I was setting the timing on my silver GTS yesterday, I have just finished changing the cambelts/bearings and am now putting all back together.

Modified the distributors to 1 point system as well, set initial ignition by hand and went on to set the idle advance at 7 degrees.
The car fired up with around 0 degrees, after a while I had both distributors set at 6-7 degrees (they jump between 5 to 7).

Turned off the engine and has a quite big pool of oil under the front distributor a smaller under the rear dizzy, both distributors were really loose and not tight at all as it makes tuning easy.

Should I suspect the seals in the "cam covers" or just blame it to a loose distributor? I have not really torqued down the distributors before, so the cover had not really set. I am going to drive it a little an see if it holds tight.

I definitely had oil drips from the distributors while I was fiddling with the timing. Once you are all done you can try cleaning things up and then checking the cam covers again.

Get used to it. Even new oil seals will not stop it 100%. The weak link is the simple o-ring between the dizzy shaft and the cam shaft end. I even plugged up the cam shaft and it did not help a whole lot.

Every time you open your hood, a simple wipe will help keep it clean.
