Ferrari logo on rear trunk of F430 spider is slightly loose, there is a little side to side movement/ give. Is this normal? Looked from underneath, no screws to tighten. Any advice?

On my 360 there are two one way fastener washers that you can slide up on the pin that mounts the logo. You can use an 8 or 9mm deep socket; position the logo on the deck lid then push up on the socket. You will feel the one way washer tension up.

I am sure the 430 is the same. Here is a pic for reference.

    Good Luck.

If that does not work, you can always thread the studs and use nuts to tighten them.

Or just replace the washer clips. They are all of $2.02 each from Ricambi

I took the emblem off and used dubble glued tape since I didnt want the emblem to move at all. When refitting I also used the old studs and lockers.
This is a old way to fitt emblemes, nowdays they are all glued on with tape. No corrosion.

My 08 spider emblem is also loose. Can you provide me with a more details ... What type of tape? Did you remove the emblem first? Did you also get new fastener from ricambi ?

I like the new fastener from Ricambi, but I didn´t use it. Takes too long to get it to Sweden.
But if you look at the fastener above - you can see how you can take it apart with a small needle and reuse it.
The tape I use is abot 1 mm thick - foam layer in the middle and glued areas on both sides. You can find it in bookstores and hardware stores.

Then you will have to cut small stripes of the tape and fix them to the underside if the emblem.
Fix the emblem to the lid and finaly reuse the fasteners.

Haha - I didn´t want to tell to make it more complex - but could you find an automotive one - they will resist de-greaser and other fluids.
Think I got 5 different in my workshop, and probably it should be enough with one. Also check stores selling carpets. They use them to fix these ugly carpets that covers the hole floor. Can´t find the name for it. - But I get better.

Finally doing this, mine was moving around too, was bugging me

So it wasn't readily apparent to me, had to get my headlight on it, I used an ice pick to lift the washer corner and it nearly broke right off, then had to use a thin razor to cut the plastic

Magnet tip to grab the metal bits and needlenose to grab the plastic

Looks like there was maybe double sided tape on the F, R I of the logo, but it's all but dried up or gone

Now to exorcise Enzo's ghost, clean the car, thread the posts (hopefully) double-sided tape and reassemble

Cleaned up ok, I assume this last bit would take polishing? Seems to be into the surface

So, I can't say I would highly recommend threading the posts as the metal is very soft, it doesn't hold threads well. If you do go this route, assume you'll get one shot at it, every time you put the threading die on or off, it will reduce the threading. I used a 3mm, it was pretty much the perfect size

Interestingly enough, it appears the front hood logo is attached with a threaded screw base, will check that one out at some point

That said, it is a much more secure fit than the clips, lock nuts and a bit of blue lthreadlocker (since the threads are soft) and it is completely solid after fitment

I used a thicker double-sided tape (3M), don't like the look from the side, but didn't want it resting against the car producing the same issue as before with discoloration and/or scratching, I may replace it with something half the thickness

I used this stuff for emblems, Pininfarina logos etc,. It is permanent though. one drop on each letter and your are done. Fixed. Also used it to affix the Cavallino on my ignition keys.

Good to know for items that affix to the surface without posts, etc, thank you

It is good stuff and easier to use (no need for cutting of the adhesive to suit the shape of an emblem) however I would worry about future removal of pieces attached to the car body. I can remove the VHB with a piece of fishing line and wipe away the residual glue with some tar remover.

The 3M adhesives tend to be more permanent.

Lol, you guys are a riot! This is what happens when you buy a beater F430 with 37k miles on it  and you want it to look like someone's Platino winner!

Next up, garage door opener on the dashboard switch :)

Last bit on the liquid adhesive, good for flush mounted permanent, I want to get a bit of lift off the surface too, so in this case like the tape

I could def see that glue coming in handy elsewise

:D:D Your car’s going to look awesome when you get those BBS wheels like Tommy T’s. :D:D

Looking forward to the garage door opener switch info, even though that means ANOTHER weekend project. :)

If you want to tape, use 3M VHB in the thinnest you can find. They make a ton of variants...you can search on Amazon for some. Car manufacturers use it for attaching window trim, badges and emblems, trunk lid spoilers and all sorts of stuff. It is very strong.
