    Hello Gents,
I have asked this question over in the 612 forum but have not received any responses. There are two wiring plugs behind my OBD2 cover panel that are hanging freely and not plugged-in to anything. The first one has a lead that is wrapped-around a protective plastic cover that belongs to the second one (please see my pics). These appear to be factory wiring connectors and not aftermarket. The larger of the two plugs has a 3-pin connector with one black and one white wire, with the third pin being blocked-off by an insulator. The smaller plug is a 2-pin connector (with a black plastic removable cover) with one blue and one white wire. I cannot easily see where these plugs might fit. Are they part of some diagnostic system or maybe for an accessory or option that my car is not equipped with? Could anybody here tell me what these wiring plugs are for? My 2006 car is running fine with no faults (besides a dead alarm siren). Thank you.

Left connector is an ALDL used for diagnostic purposes.
Right connector appears to be CAN bus termination resistor. That should be plugged in.

Thank you, Island Guy. The CAN bus termination resistor is normally plugged-in. I only removed it temporarily in order to get a pic of the connector. As for the ALDL plug...what type of diagnostic purpose would it serve? Does it provide a function that is not available through the OBD2 connector? Thanks again.

On a car as late as the 612, all diagnostic functions (as I recall) are accessible through the OBD2 connector using an SD3 or equiv. I qualify my answer as I cannot recall if dash display diagnostics are available through the OBD port. I'm sure that at the factory level, this connector has some purpose.
