Great collector of the marque, CEMEX is reporting his passing.
I never met Mr. Zambrano but a friend and I went to Redondo Beach in the 90's and Steve Tillack was gracious enough to show us the cars and talk about what great stuff it was. Mr. Zambrano had impeccable taste in the Ferrari collection he assembled. Truly a discerning eye. My condolences to his family and loved ones.
Mr Zambrano was one of the most important Ferrari collectors in Mexico. He called his collection as "Caballeriza Collection". So sorry to hear of Lorenzo's passing. I met him on a few occasions, he was a passionate Ferraristi and a kind man. RIP.
A wonderful enthusiast and so generous with his time and knowledge. He purchased my old 250 SWB, 1539 GT in the mid 1990's and had it restored to perfect original condition. RIP
Why do you think he loved so much the ferraris and alfas? What is his legacy to the car comunity , how he wil be remebered? How many cars he actually had in his collection? Did he had any favorites? Any urban myths or legends regarding him? I actually met him on a trip to PB in 2002 and he was a humble nice guy. There legend says that he had more than 350 cars in his U.S. collection and 50 in his mexican collection .Mostly Ferrari. I also remeber him arriving to PB on a beautiful Falcon private jet , so I assume he also liked planes. Any ideas where can I find more info on his US collection? I hope his brother will continue with the collection.
I brokered the 250GT Bertone SWB (3269, I think) to him the first time he owned it, and thus began a friendship of many years. A very polite and soft-spoken guy, never married, and not the sort of person one would visualize running a NYSE-listed company. He loved to buy and sell, both cars and cement companies around the world. At one point, a few years ago, he was buying all sorts of cars, and had accumulated several hundred. Then he changed his mind, and at this time I think there are just four great Ferraris stored at Tillack's. A true gentleman, as all who knew him will attest, I'm sure.
