I plan to be in LA in a few weeks time, and wanted to know if anyone here would like to grab a coffee or bite to eat, talk cars, and put a face on a name.

Last time I was out there I met several really nice people, it would be great to do the same this time.

I'd also like to talk with anyone who can give some advice about getting a QP3 to pass smog in California, what's required, etc. I expect it must be possible as the cars were sold there originally and must have met the emission standards of the time.

    Thanks!

California? I beleive it's a real beotch. Anything post 75? is in that state. There's a formerly very active person in the QP3 community on here who went through this in the last 5 years. Have a look through the QP threads. He's from the UK. I met him once out there in Monterey. William?

Whomever is now the MOCNA - southern california head now after Doug's passing might be worth contacting for people to hook up with. Check with MIE/MCI too.

Thanks Bob. I know William, although he hasn't been here in a while, and will contact him.

Last time I was there I met with Mike in Venice Beach and Frank in Palm Desert (he lives right down the road from my dad, funny enough).

I can see who 's taken over the reins after Doug as well as if MIE has any suggestions.

Is anyone going on this weekend road tour with their Maserati?

It starts at the Petersen Museum on the 28th of April and going to Paso Robles and back over the weekend.
I signed up with the Vignale and they have a few slots open.

    It is organized by

I have no financial interest in this, just looking for a good drive with some like minded enthusiast.
If any of you have any experience with the individuals mentioned above please let me know here, or offline.

Up in Paso right now. Great wines to had on the west side of the 102. If you like superb wines, make the run. Driving the west side of Paso going to the various wineries is a treat.

    1) Itinerary for Southern California / Los Angeles Departure
On-site registration will take place at The Petersen Automotive Museum (6060 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, 90036) from 7:30-7:45am and will include coffee and morning refreshments, as well as a brief tour of “the vault” and a few minutes inside the museum.
Route books will be distributed prior to departure. Timed departures will begin at 8:45am. Our rally will include check points and fun facts to find along the way.
All cars will stop for a private tour of the the famed Mullin Museum, a sit-down lunch at Root 246 in Solvang, and finally a ‘special stage’ allowing participants to enter into a bit of friendly competition in a safe, secure environment.
Following your Friday evening hotel check-in and a few minutes to freshen up will be a reception and dinner at our host hotel, Allegretto Vineyard Resort. We will be at the hotel for both Friday and Saturday nights, so feel free to settle in.
Saturday morning will begin with breakfast at the hotel, with departures for our morning drive getting underway by 9:30am.
Lunch will be served at Bistro Laurent in the Paso Robles town square.
Our afternoon drive naturally also loops back into Paso Robles with plenty of time to kick back before the evening program begins.
Our Saturday wine tasting/reception/dinner will be at Adelaida Vineyards & Winery. Motor coach transportation will be included so that you can make the most of the evening. We suggest cocktail casual attire for the evening.
You will have time on Sunday morning to pack and check out before brunch to be held at the Eberle Winery, with time to socialize and properly inspect all the vehicles!
The official program concludes by 2pm for your personal journey back home.
    2) Thursday Night Accomodations

We have had inquiries regarding Thursday evening accommodations, ahead of our Friday morning start. We like the following hotels, though it is up to you to ensure that they are able to meet your needs:
    Kimpton Hotel Wilshire, 323-852-6000.
    Beverly Hills Marriott, 310-553-6561.
Thursday night accommodations are NOT included in your Drive Toward a Cure registration and are, therefore, booked by you at your own expense.

    3) Sunday Night Extension

We have also had inquiries about staying on at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort through Sunday night. If you are interested in this, please let us know and we will make arrangements with the hotel at our preferred rate, if possible.

Sunday night accommodations are NOT included in your Drive Toward a Cure registration and the extra nights stay is to be paid directly by you to the hotel. Please verify your extended stay upon check-in.

    4) Our Mission / Fundraising

Drive Toward a Cure is on a mission to support Parkinson’s Disease research and patient care. A portion of every registration fee will be going toward the Michael J. Fox Foundation and The Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center. We are working toward raising additional funds as well through sponsorships, donations and contributions. With a $500 donation, you or your business can be included as a “Friend of Drive Toward a Cure”, with your logo and URL included on our site for a full year, in the Route Book provided to all participants, and within select other marketing we undertake. Of course, increased sponsorship will gain more prominent inclusion.

Over the course of the weekend, we will have some wonderful items that will be offered in a small auction or by raffle. Details are to be determined, but all proceeds from this will go directly to support the cause.

    5) Hagerty Plus® Roadside Service and Benefits

A bonus for our ‘California Adventure’ participants will be the coverage of Hagerty Plus® Roadside Service and Benefits during the event dates. Hagerty Plus is a comprehensive full-service roadside assistance program designed specifically for classic cars. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s only for classics – whatever car you bring on our premiere event will be covered by Hagerty Plus for the duration of the weekend, with special thanks to our sponsor, Hagerty!

    6) McLaren & The Parkinson's Institute

Finally, we would like to recognize the generosity of McLaren Automotive, who are sponsoring Dr. Carrolee Barlow, MD, PhD and CEO of the Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center to join us for the weekend. Carrolee and her husband are both sports car enthusiasts, so driving the new McLaren 570 GT will surely be a thrill for them, and Carrolee will fill us in on continued research into treatment and perhaps eventually a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.

We look forward to meeting you personally and introducing you to our team members as well as our entire group of car aficionados! No matter what your choice of transportation for the weekend will be, we are confident this will be a drive to remember!

    Sincerely,
    Deb Pollack -- (805) 320-9248

    LA meetup

I'm here, now and until the 16th.

I'll be out in the desert for a few days from tomorrow, and hope to meet up with Frank while there.

Is there anyone in the greater LA area who would like to meet up at some point while I'm here? Talk cars, have lunch, or a coffee, or whatever?

Looking forward to meeting some fellow Maseratisti in person!
