As I learned yesterday that I have lost a friend already to this tragedy .. Who she was also worked at Jaturon's work place, Traffic Corner as a journalist and she was once working for us at HiSoParty.com as a freelance writer. What a wonderful lady!!! Everytime we saw her, it was her smile that catched our attention first. And her great sense of humor. She always there with her pencil and notebook catching the latest social news and good fun gossip. A few monthes ago, she got promoted for the front page supervisor. Everyone loved her. And indeed, she had many friends. Many people and her co-workers went down to Phuket to look for her as she went to Phanga that weekend and never called home since. ....... MAY YOU, NONG', REST IN PEACE....
Dear Patpong, I cry in unison with the millions of others who feel so terrible about what has happened to so many people. But when someone you know has been lost, it becomes - like part of family. This has been happening all over the world to so many people. Trying to imagine the scope of this tragedy brings me to my knees. My heart goes out to you - to all those that lost treasured friends and family members. Oh for a miracle - not one but many Hank
I have a british friend that was in the vincinity of maldives island sailing in his yacht which so far has been uncontactable.....crossing my fingers and hoping he is just boozed out..
We have not given up hope on her just yet, Patpong. We have set up donation funds for her family which at least will help her family through this difficult time. Although the chance is very slim as her husband's body was found already but still no sign of her yet. We all are praying for her.
Never give up. Good news is still happening as we speak. A 2 years old european boy was reunited with his father yesterday. A Thai boy was also reunited with his dad (who himself was floating in the sea for 2 days) and his mom...
I wish that that would happen in this case but still have not heard anything about her yet. We haven't given up any hope but realistically it is pretty slim as this is the 7th day already.
Unfortunately, this is a nightmare from which one does not awake. My condolences to one and all who bereave over their loved one's tragic end. There is something positive, however - as patpong has demonstrated, an appreciation for those who have been part of their lives, and celebrate their memory. One hopes that when tragedy strikes, survivors will carry the strongest traits a person such as his dear friend, Nong' had to offer. I commend you, sir, on sharing your thoughts with us. May her humor and smile go a long way to restore faith and hope not only in these difficult times, but for time eternal.
Thank you for your kind words, Let's live the life we are awarded to... Life is shorter than we think. We might get 70 or 80 strong years to live if we're lucky, but each parts of it is so short. I still feel like a teenger eventhough it has been twenty years now. That part of my life is over. No matter what I do I can never go back to my teenage years or my college years, or pre-marry again. We only get 8 to 10 years for each parts. So, let make each days count, make it a happy rememberable day in our memory for a long time.... Have a happy new year..... to all my F-chat friends...
Bad news guys, they had identified a body which they were quite sured it was her. We ran one page in our newspaper, where she worked, today as a tribute and dedication to her and her family. At least I wish both Nong and her husband have rejoined in heaven, god bless both of them and the family they had left behind.
Sorry to hear that K.Moo and K.Jaturon. My heart goes to her family. I saw in the news on TV every night about this sad event and everytime there are both sad and good news. I believe K.Nong and her husband will be happy together up there.
Sorry to hear about your friend. There is still a chance that she will survive. My colleague and her English husband had more luck, they were thrown into the sea (from their bedroom). They were out there for four hours, holding on to bits of thatched roof. Somehow the current brought them back to the Golden Buddha Beach. Everything dissappared, except their lives.
