Lost a friend with two more seriously injured this month

Have been hit hard this month with friends being killed and injured in Oklahoma. Have known these three for many years. Spoke to two of them at length in Tulsa the first weekend of the month. Stopped fuel tanker on the expressway heading back to Albuquerque with a school bus on fire stopping traffic. Terrible collision. The two still alive are all busted up. One still in ICU. The other who I was able to speak with this morning says he looks like a ninja turtle. He is in a 6 week rehab program before he can even think about going home. Broken ribs, busted elbow and ankle. His lower back has already been fused.

Haven't been sleeping well thinking about them. Know why I have been more cautious as I grow older. It is just common sense. Grew up in Indiana where the roads were never patrolled. It was like a fantasy land which most drivers never have experienced. Then I started thinking about the tragedies even back then. Like the new Corvette that Robert had saved for. Racing his cousin that night. He said the steering never felt just right. With just over 500 miles on the car, it left the road, hit a covert and went end over end. He and one brother with him both killed.

It was all fun back then. Now driving has just become a responsibility for me. Sad no, just being realistic as it all should have been even back then when we were young and invincible.
