here are 2 photos ( found them on my portable harddisk ) from my broken mainshaft with a stock gearbox and rob hayden´s shaft in my competition during I repaired my broken CP and diff. I put this gearbox in to see if it will work. after the broken mainshaft I put in again the other "strong" repaired gearbox and this gearbox with the broken mainshaft is now nearly finished with stronger mainshaft, stronger CP and modena diff. only have to modify the oilpump for more volume. if you are within 0,01 mm in the middle I would use it again
if it will break it is normaly easy to replace, so much easier then a diff;)

About $1,200. I’m just going to do it for peace of mind.

I wouldn't replace it only because its designed to flex just like the aftermarket offering. If you aren't driving it like you stole it it'll outlast you. If you do beat on it you'll be dealing with other failing components anyway. I've thought a bearing support in the bellhousing would be good but that might also take away its ability to be the fusible link. Seeing Romano's broken examples I can say that they don't always break clean like that, Ive seen ones that looked like broken glass when they fail and flung all that debris into the gearbox. Not a simple repair if it fails like that.

I got trigger happy, already ordered a replacement as I found one in stock in Ohio lol.

Also replacing all studs I had to remove to get back cover off and some exhaust studs that need it.

    original?
what diameter your old one has and what this found one?
the earlier ones have been 2 mm less in diameter, but can not rememer if 16 mm old and 18 mm new or 17 mm and 19 mm

still have 2 or 3 at home with the small diameter

Question for expert, I need 12 new crown screws and they are $35 a piece! Any alternatives? Reason you cannot reuse the old ones? One time torque setting?

Also the original part number 104310 is superseded like 3x, the new part number is 155750.

The 365 shaft is shorter because the bell housing and drop gear cases aren’t as thick as an assembly.

    Stock bolt is 28mm under the head so I buy 30mm and shorten them. It’s a 10 x 1.25

If these bolts are for the half shafts, they're not one time use. If they were, Gabe would have replaced them when he did the rear wheel bearing.
