I tried to search, but no luck, so asking... I lost both the keys to my 458 and the dealer says they can't make new ones and neither can Ferrari. They will have to change a few parts that take like 1-2 months and it will cost around $6k. Really? Thanks guys!
Have any kids ? Or the wife ? I would offer a finders fee of $500-1000 to anybody in the house who can find them Lay a few $100 bills on the kitchen counter, finder gets the cash.
Check the owners manual, which refers to the code card, page 16: If you request additional keys, provided that the conditions to satisfy your request are met, remember that the codes must be stored (up to a maximum of 7 keys) on all the keys. Contact the Ferrari Service Network directly and bring the following with you: - all the keys in your possession; - the CODE CARD for the Ferrari CODE system;
That doesn't seem entirely true however I don't know all the facts. Contact me if you'd like and I can get you a price.
Once you prove ownership Ferrari can make keys. Its based on the key code as was described. You should have the key code card in the car. Will take a couple/few months as I was told they come from Italy. I don't know about that maybe the dealer was just slow. I can tell you Italy required electronic versions of every bit of ID you have about the car including drivers licenses of everyone on the title, registration, title and bill of sale. Was free for me during purchase - just took about three+ months. I would think it costs a bunch otherwise.
Wow, and I was shocked when I was told that it would cost $500 for a new programmed Fiat key for my 500!!
2-3 months? What are they doing, mining the metals, forging the keys, making a new silicon based chip for the programming? Holy crap, a new low in customer service for Ferrari, or any car manufacturer. Park your car (I hope it's unlocked) and put it on a trickle charger, it's gonna be a while. Oh, and any chance a set of the keys are locked in the car? I assume any good locksmith could pop the door open so you could take a peek inside for them. D
From Continental AutoSports, your price for the uncoded key (has to be programmed by the dealer) is $981.33 and programming by us is $159. So, hypothetically, from me you're looking at $1140.33 for parts and service (PER KEY). ALSO, if a new key code is needed, that costs $91.20. FYI - to order a key, Ferrari REQUIRES a copy of the drivers license as well as the title. This is Ferrari's strict policy, not the dealer in question.
Is there a difference in the result when you do the programming vice the dealer? What is the turn around time for you to do it all? How long does it take to get a key if you do not have it in stock? Do your keys come from the factory? Thanks for your responses.
Nice! Exactly what I thought. When my kids were 3 or 4 they could find anything in the house for $5. Hell, how much would you pay me to find them?!

We are a dealer (authorized for over 30 years). I should preface by saying that the car would have to be transported here (we have our OWN transport driver) but that said, the key can be here waiting before the car arrives - please note however the key itself has to be prepaid. I can only ASSUME the programming would take an hour then the car would be "shipped" back to you! Any further questions regarding the transport, etc., feel free to contact Gary Kral or Scott Wallace in our Service Department.
Thanks you for responding. As we know all dealers are not the same. Mine took months to get the second key made! Said it had to come from Italy. Yours is ready immediately. I'm assuming that the new key needs the interrogator within the vehicle to sync to it and not that any vehicle electronics need to be messed with. Thanks again.
Confirmed, once all paperwork and payment is in order it would take me about 3-4 business days to obtain said key.
Don't they still have the Red Fob/Black fob combo?? He should do as I did, and put a key hang board by the door!!!
I just purchased a 2010 458 and I need another key. The dealer wants almost $2,100 for a new key and programing. I purchased a couple of replacements on eBay however they could not be programmed. I have found used keys, however, all of the blades have been cut. My question is the shape of the grooves specific to an individual car or will any shape work.
