I lost my BB y'day at a restaurant. When I returned just 10min later it was gone. I left my contact details w/ the manager. 20+hrs later it has not been returned and I dont expect it to as, someone turned the power off shortly after I lost it. The BB is password protected and will reformat itself after 10 incorrect log in attempts but I think there's always a hack around this. I couldnt care less about the phone itself but rather the data on the device. My friend, a Microsoft employee who has a windows based phone, tells me that MS can reformat his device wirelessly upon request. Does blackberry have this feature? It would give me some peace of mind if i could wipe the device clean. Many thanks, stressed.

If the data link is cut(as turned off) there is no software that can do it. Yes it is a pain when important data gets lost like that, on the bad side it is not so hard to put it on reload/debug mode like when reloading the OS and/or trying to unlock it and potentially someone might get the data, hopefully they just want to unlock it to make it a usable unit. I think if it is a CDMA they can tag the IMIE as not good and cannot be activated anywhere(in theory) if it is GSM it is a different story.
