Sounds like a dumb idea to me: http://jalopnik.com/5053641/fiat-to-jump-on-elise+based-sports-car-bandwagon-for-new-dino
Why? They now call a Masarati , the new California. I'm sure this statement will hurt some feelings. But it's true. Ferrari has now joined the elite ranks of Chevrolet and Pontiac by sharing corporate platforms. Why not just use some other companys? Maybe we will soon see a new entry level Ferrari, based on a Fiat. Darrell.
I like the Elise/Exige/Europa, but I don't care for the styling. Maybe the Italians will get it right -- then this could be the perfect little new sports car. Of course, it will probably not be available in the U.S. . . .
While I agree with you, I also disagree a bit. The Maserati underpinnings of the California were developed while Maser was under Ferrari and abandoned by Maser when they went to Alfa. Too bad this will never hit the US. -dsd
There's a guy in our Europa group that put a Europa body on a Dino 246 chassis. He said the Europa looked better. While even I might disagree there, this car is in the same tradition. I'm waiting for Mark to put a Ferrari engine in a Fiero myself. Ken
