Interesting car, fairly close to my second home. Been considering some other English options, but this is an interesting car.

Anyone here have any experience with these cars? Seems a bit overpriced given the lack of originality and areas that need finishing not to mention lack of being driven. Aren't the best ones in the low 20s?

Might get up there to check it out in a couple weeks.

Personally, I like the S1s & S2s because they don't have that chrome strip around the side windows that looks odd when the windows are rolled down.

You should consult the Lotus forums because these cars do have some problems like the backbone frame that rusts-- but they make replacements, rubber drive donuts. Great, light, small car -- typically Lotus, fantastic handling & the twincam can be upgraded easily.

Watch EBay & Hemmings for price comparison.

Hmmm.... let's see . . . . New paint, Spyder chassis, Panasport wheels, Quaife LSD, new engine and Webers . . . new differential mounts and steering shaft coupling, fuel cell -- how much more do you want for $14k? Especially for an old Elan. If you're not looking for a track car (i.e. want something stock/original), look elsewhere! ;)

I sold mine for considerably more than that and it was similarly modified (even more so).

My engine rebuild cost almost $12k
