I cancelled and got my deposit back. I had put a deposit on a First Edition a year and a half ago. I was told that's what I would get. Then I was told the FE's were all spoken for (700 for North America, which puts it at about 70 for Canada...compared with several hundred deposits). I was OK with that for a while. The dealer either couldn't or wouldn't tell me when I could expect a car, not even a rough idea. When I found out that production of the FE's for North America wasn't going to start until early 2023, then the non-FE's after that for basically the whole world, it was obvious that the non-FE's for Canada wouldn't show up until 2024. I asked the dealer if I was wrong and if not, to refund my deposit. He refunded my deposit.

The car was pretty good price-wise compared to what else people might be shopping for; Cayman usually, or a C8. But price increases have been announced and nobody knows where they will end up, so too many unknowns for me and pricing that is not going to be competitive to stick with it. Of course some will want it no matter what. Nothing wrong with the car, but Lotus is handling the whole thing horribly. No communication other than form letters (or more accurately, form emails) telling people how much they are valued.

    Unfortunately, typical for lotus.

Cannot see paying 30k more for this over stingray esp that offers open top. Maybe over gts Cayman at same price. If live nearby dealer that is.

Emira needs the turbo 4 tuned 425 hp, stick, and open top. That would be perfect at 100k.

If it had all that, hell it would be perfect at $120k.

But it doesn't, and never will (open top is not in the cards, any more than it was for the Evora).

Of those 3 things, you can get the Emira though with... A stick... But not at $100k any more. Lotus just jacked the price up to $105k+ in the US. $107k with black pack. So let's call it a clean $110k with an alcantara steering wheel & destination charge.

They've also delayed US deliveries to late in the year.

Smh... Not gonna waste time saying what I think of Lotus & their management.

Really sad… this delay and poor communication.
    I don’t understand the hold up….they’re just re-crating the Evora engine…
I’m going to hang in there for the love of the brand. But I’ll probably get my Ferrari orders quicker than the Lotus.

Apologies to those interested. My car did arrive yesterday but there were issues with it which I am waiting upon Lotus to agree a resolution to.

I posted in this thread 15 months ago when I gave up my FE deposit at Lotus of Denver and bought a very low mileage '14 Evora S instead, and have been driving the beejesus out of it. I also picked up a restored '65 Elan Coupe in the meantime.

I put on the Elan and my wife follows me in the Evora, picking up the parts that fall off the Elan. My combined Loti purchase prices still put me in below what it looks like the Emira would have ultimately cost me. That said, I really look forward to seeing the Emira in person and I hope you guys get your Emiras soon!

The Elan and its fat sister (never thought I would say that about an Evora . . .).

I don’t want to go into detail as yet until Lotus have had a chance to decide what to do. I would say that I think I am just unlucky and that it is not something anyone else will experience as I’ve not read of a similar story from any other delivery.

Just to elaborate slightly, the issues I've suffered are a result of the way Lotus are distributing the cars in the UK with their direct sales model and I suspect most, if not all, are the direct result of a failure of their chosen service provider for the storage, preparation and delivery aspect. I doubt the issues would arise in other markets where their dealerships would have picked up and rectified them before delivery so are not cause for undue concern. I just wanted to explain my lack of feedback on the driving aspect of the car as I'm not putting any miles on it pending the outcome with Lotus.

I don’t understand the secrecy. Sounds like you got delivery of a car with cosmetic issues directly related to the pre-delivery handling of the vehicle. Not sure why that would necessitate extreme reticence to simply describe what occurred.

But whatever the reasons, I hope it’s rectified your satisfaction and that you get to enjoy!

I had a 2017 Evora 400 - nice car, but... wasn't *exactly* what I was looking for: Wasn't convertible and thought I wanted a stick-shift - but that kind of got old so I better 'fess up that an automatic better suits an old man at this point.

Bought it just as COVID lockdowns hit - so, before the price run-up shortly thereafter - and sold it about 18 months later for a few thousand more than I paid. Won't say I made money on it as I put some money into it.

I'm really a bike/chopper guy at heart, but *do* like exotic cars on the side and I'm here on F-Chat considering my options in convertible rosso-corsa! :)

Galpin's wording is funny.... basically "we hurried up to tell you it will take forever!"
very different messages from the 2 dealers.
I'd like to say they should do the Disney thing... under promise and over deliver... but it is WAY too late for that now!
on the upside, I just got a new-to-me 2017 AMG GT.... and she is a beast!
tired of waiting (although have not pulled my deposit...)

I rolled my eyes more that Galpin said that they "appreciate their work in helping keep our air clean." Really?.. Like this delay will make the air any cleaner, rather than simply being a long delayed bureaucratic process that won't result in Lotus making any further emissions changes?...

We also get a trite "Good things come to those who wait." Now, if they're referring to their customers having to fork over less $$$ in "market-adjustment premium" because the car isn't hitting until end of this year when interest will have reduced as well as the economy... They are likely right, and I agree with their sentiment ;)
