650 is such a dog, surprising acquisition unless he’s just bored and likes to try wide variety which I can certainly understand.
I'm sorry as much as I like Harry's reviews I cannot understand his review of that Lotus electric SUV. If anyone should have torn apart that warmed over Chinese label slap it was him. Its the opposite of everything Lotus stands for. If anyone should have called them out it was him.
A lotus engine is the one thing I think we can all agree on would not have been a good idea I love the supercharged V6. Sounds amazing and has a ton of character. I opened things up further with 3rd cat delete and exhaust flap remote, this thing is great!
Anyone else here pick up an Emira? Already seeing some on the secondary market. Any clue on when the automatics are shipping?
Got mine and it's really really more than I expected, and find myself looking for things where it doesn't measure up to F-car or P-car and can't find any. People who see it absolutely love it,great lines and fit and finish perfect!

I keep reading reviews, some are not kind: https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2024-lotus-emira-v-6-first-edition-first-test-review/#google_vignette I've checked the want ads and there are a number that are already in secondary market. Only 2 - yes 2, have been shipped to the US with an automatic in it. I so like the look of the car, but the build quality, and apparently too close pedals has me concerned. The prices really haven't dopped much, but I suspect that is coming.
Emira is Ferrari like in looks, style and build quality is without fault -- is great value in the100k arena
Sold mine long ago. Too bad, I was so keen to receive the car as I adore the exterior visuals and the promise of a lite sports car. For me, the exhaust note was non existent (ie the pathetic Ferrari 488+ type sound would be a massive step up), the engine was too tame, and yes the foot box was tight. I hope they make a highly tuned up version, I would reconsider.
Plastique, what times was the Emira running at Big Willow? Nor should they be (kind). What a disappointment the Emira ended up being once it finally arrived (for many of us, anyways). Great looks, but totally let down by its antiquated & underpowered engines and transmission options, plus its poor Lotus build quality/glitches and lack of attention to detail in items that should have been better polished before release. My Emira was one of the first to arrive in CA early this year, and even with the original 1.0 pricing (~96k), I still passed on taking delivery when it showed. 100X happier with my Huracan Evo & never looking back. Other than hardcore Lotus fans, I think the Emira would make a good car for someone who 1) buys it used down the road for a good discount, and 2) is willing to modify it to alleviate shortcomings & can throw some good $$ at it. It's a great looking car and in the boring world of Porsche sports cars, could provide the exotic experience for someone "on a budget".
I have both an EVO RWD Spyder and an Emira, I love both and they have a permanent place in the stable. That being said they aren't really apples to apples. One is a V10 supercar with DCT and 600hp, the other 6 speed manual sportscar with 400hp. One is worth 400k (CAD) the other 130k. 400hp is very respectable for the road. I had a small issue with hvac, but it was easily sorted by service bulletin. It's actually been my most problem free and reliable new car purchase, and that includes the likes of Bentley, Mercedes, Ferrari and Lamborghini over the past few years.
Pedal box is a little tight, but only a problem with bulky shoes, and you get used to it. Drive it with a nice pair of pilot's and it's more then fine. Size 12 sneaker/10.5UK dress The car is super fun and engaging the drive. Not sure what people are saying about the exhaust note, I think it sounds fantastic, with loads of character. You can also increase volume with exhaust remote and 3rd Cat delete, which I've done as well. I seriously question the integrity of all the so-called journalists that poo-poo'd this car. This looks 1000x better then any GT3 or GT4, and is fun to drive slow, a characteristic that is exceedingly rare these days. Steering is raw and feelsome, and it's simply refreshing to have a small vehicle, as everything is increasing in size and dimensions these days. It goads you to drive fast and gives you tons of confidence. I have plenty of supercars and GT's in the collection, but this fits in nicely on account of it's compact dimensions and low price point. It means if I don't know the parking situation in advance, I don't really have to worry about damage/car jacking/theft. But it still feels special, engaging, fun to drive and exotic in a way that I don't really get from a Cayman, 911 or C8.
^^ thanks for the review, nickorette.... I had a deposit for >1.5 years, bailed and got a used AMG GT.... a very different car than what the Emira would have been. I'll have to look again at the Emira sometime soon. oddly... our local dealer in Austin has 2 new ones... BOTH are non manual cars!
How many miles did you drive your Emira and what build quality issues did you see on your car? The Evo is a totally different car designed for a different purpose, seems very much like an “apples and oranges” comparison.
Yes, of course it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. It was simply a statement of the route I ended up going (and that I'm very happy with that route in retrospect). I'll add that for me, with the addition of the Evo (Spyder) to my stable there just wouldn't be a driving situation where I would have grabbed the keys to the Emira vs. one of my other cars. But frankly it doesn't seem like there is a good apples-to-apples comparison for the Emira. As an exotic sports car priced at roughly $110k MSRP, the Emira is kinda in its own class. Take away the exotic distinction, and then there's proper & worthy comparisons to be had vs. say Porsche 718 Cayman's and Corvettes, all with their own strengths & weaknesses.
Looks like Lotus is pulling back from total electric. https://www.motor1.com/news/741724/lotus-cancels-full-ev-plans/
well.... MAYBE they will survive... pisses me off... I'd have an Emira if they had concentrated on a car people WANTED. but they F'd around, bending knee to the electric gods... and delayed and delayed the Emira. I'm one of literally thousands of people who had a deposit, felt their communication with potential customers and dealers was terrible, who then pulled their deposits.
