Here's a thread on Roadfly's Lotus Esprit Forum that contains a link to pistonhead's Esprit Forum, and gives nod to Espritfactfile.com http://lotus.roadfly.org/lotus/forums/esprit/5387581-1.html How's that for killing 2 (or 3) birds with 1 stone?
Thanks for the info. Yeah I'v been going through this battle. Cant decide if I want a used 328 or a fairly new (say, 98 to 01) V8TT Esprit. I thought I had wrote off the Lotus, but its such a damn sharp looking car, so I figured I'd get both sides of the story.
Look into S4 or S4s. S4s is the penultimate Esprit, despite V8. Also has highest collectibility/value amongst all Esprits.
I'll check into both. Awsome thing about the Lotus is that its beautiful design has remained pretty much unchanged since the early 90's.
i kjnow its a matter of personal taste, but the esprit never did much for me as far as the looks go......a group of us walked by a late model yellow one downtown this weekend and i was not impressed, and my friends didnt even notice it ... a ferrari or lambo or viper would have gotten some comments...also , i still dont trust the quality control on the espirt....
Well of course asthetics is subjective, but I think the Esprit is a very eye catching design. There are a few in my area that I see from time to time and they always get my attention, most of all I know exactly what the car is when I see it. From a distance I'd actually get the 360 confused with the C5, which means its going to be even more difficult to distinguish once the C6's become more common over the next few months. That's just my opinion though. As far as the mechanical aspect of the V8TT Esprit is concerned, there is a fix for the liner problem, or if I were to go with an 01, I could just avoid the problem all together. The general consensus from what I could gather from some of the owners was that the cars that end up with problems were a very small minority. Other than that most people on there were happy with there cars and have yet to experience any problems. My general opinion on cars is, if you let a small group of people who have had a bad experience with a certain car scare you out of buying one, then you might as well start taking the bus, because there is no car out there, built on an assembly line or by hand, that someone hasnt had a ****ty experience with. Dont get me wrong though, I appritiate you making me aware of the bad experiences you've had, thats absolutely always welcome and nice to have a heads up on.
