On my 2001 Lotus Esprit V8, I have an annoying noise behind the driver and passenger seats whenever I drive over bumps.

Based on my research, it must be the bulkhead plywood separation behind the seats that over time loosens up and is not firmly secured. Apparently the metal supports need to be shortened and tightened. This involves cutting 2 holes on the carpet to access those bolts.

    1) Will shortening those bolts fix this issue for sure ?
    2) Is there any other way to access those bolts besides cutting the carpet behind the seats ?

See attached photos from my driver and passenger seats, and the photos I found on the web regarding the holes I need to make.

    Thanks !!

The bulkhead plywood in the drawing is number 8, and the reason I post here is because the relevant Lotus forums are not visited very much and I don't get any replies there !! LOL
