pitpass - Lotus burns up biggest loss of any team in F1 history Grosjean needs to billed for his carbon-fibre use and destruction!
So they've burned through roughly $100m US to date for 2013. Staggering, but not surprising. I have to wonder if they know internally that they are reaching a cliff.
last year Kimi almost bankrupted the team because he did much better than the team expected...(his base isn't that high, he got quite a bit of coin per point scored) . They lost out on big $ last year because of Grosjeans idiotic driving. If Monaco is anything to go by, they really should drop him ASAP and see if they can get another driver that brings $. I'm sure Bianchi can find some cash somewhere...
AFAIK not by FIA but definitely by the team. Pretty much all drivers are on this performance based contract. Vettel gets 25K per point, Kimi 75K...But Vettel's base is much higher than Kimi's.
Ever see one of those cartoons where someone runs off a cliff but only starts to fall when they look down?
Difficult to assess I would imagine. Can they afford the loss? I was expecting Force India to be gone first given Vijay's ailing empire etc.
