Just traded in the C5 for this Polar Blue '06 Elise. I think the Doc can take me off the antidepressants now. Boy, these things are a blast! Took it up the Crest to break it in properly. Although I generally prefer the more outrageous colours on an Elise, I have to admit that looks cool! If you get the wheels darkened it would be even nicer.... I've spent a bit of time in my mates Elise (Looney) as passenger, definately agree with you on the fact they are a blast!
That will be alot more tossable than a c5. Tell us about the two, a good fair comparison would be cool. I also like the color, and darker wheels would be very racer looking.
Great looking car, I love Lotus'! I'm really jealous of your senery and roadways! Enjoy your new car!
love the new ride. did u consider z06? also just read car and driver mag comparo of exige vs cayman and no surprise the cayman was the better all around car. was suprised that cayman was also faster around track and big complaint on lotus was 'not quick enough'
Murph - You da man!!!! Love the color!!! We need to hook up some time, would love to see that color in person. Bring it down to CC sometime!!!!
Gorgeous!!! I've never seen the color, but now that I have I think it's perfect. I like the wheels the way they are now - nice choice. With regard to daily driver status ... just do small shopping trips once a day. And stay in shape. I'm a lithe 5'6" and can fit in anything, but I definitely did some stretches before slipping into the Elise.
Actually the article gave lots of praise to the Exige on the track even though it was running on tires that were the worse for the weather. The Exige beat it at the skid pad 1.06g vs .95g, and cornering speeds. It would also greatly depend on the track... THe Exige will tear it up on tracks with less straights. ... the Exige wins in the following categories: Tight Track Performance Steering Feel Cornering G's Brake Feel Handling Fun To Drive Price$$ These are the TG track times.. 1. Masserati MC12 1:18.9 2. Enzo 1:19.0 3. Aero Atom 1:19.5 4. Posche Carrera 1:19.8 5. Lamborghini Gallardo 1:25.8 6. BMW M5 1:26.2 ***7. Lotus Exige 1:26.4 ***8. Porsche Cayman 1:26.7 9. Ferrari 575 1:26.8 10. Corvette 1:26.8 11. STI WRX 1.29.4 12. Audi S4 1:30.0 And.. the Exige and the Elise are much better looking than the Cayman... BTW- Amazing looking color on that Elise..
Hmmmm.... I'm considering cancelling my Ford GT order (ordered in September, being built this week, delivery late this month) and getting an Elise, both to save a bunch of money, and also because an Elise seems like something you could drive every day. I'm thinking the dark blue. You're really going to use it as a daily driver? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have you considered black with goldcoloured rims? like this Or yellow + black? like this I think darkgreen with gold rims looks great too, but can't find a picture.
I really like the Lotus - it's the old problem of it's a bit small for over 6 foot folks. Was hoping that the Europa would be a good solution, but alas, it is not for the US
I've looked at all the colors, I like a subdued look. I am one of the few people (maybe 1%) who ordered a Ford GT without the stripes! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Go for it - The dark blue looks great on this car - Almost got that color myself. I am using the Elise as a daily driver & really enjoying it!
Nod. The Elise makes going to and from work a lot of fun. More so if you have some fun backroads to drive to drive along the way.
Congratultions on your new driver. It's also one of the best kept sports car secrets. You're either a guy who lives to drive a car like this or you're not. There's no inbetween because the car is SO wonderfully hard core and PURE!!!I own a Saffron Yellow Elise with all the packages and can't rave about the thing enough. I sold my Ferrari to buy the car and never looked back. It just gets better the more you drive it. Check out www.sector111.com for (as they put it) tasty bits for your Elise. I put a Quicksilver exhaust on mine and am really pleased with the sound and quality. Sector 111 is also a quality outfit.
my business partner has an elise as a daily driver and has had ZERO problems in the past 9 months. It reminds me of my viper in that you change the oil every 3k and its good to go.. His is lime green and I love it... too bad my 6'1" self doesnt fit in it or I'd get one.
