Lotus technical director James Allison to leave team - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com
very bad news for Lotus. I hope they won't suffer. I believe this will make Kimi to RBR next year a bigger possibility if they don't perform properly this year...Can't see him going back to Ferrari and certainly not Mclaren.
True. It can't be good news for Renault - that's for sure. Pity as they were looking very promising for this season. I hope they don't fade too badly. As for Kimi - he would be an interesting addition at RBR. He certainly won't be a Webber style pansy when it comes to dealing with Vettel - assuming he can see which way he went!
+1 What's the betting he surfaces at Merc too!?..... Seems they're hiring everyone else. What's Renault got to with it? They supply motors, nothing to do with the car. As for fading, I guess we'll see soon. I think their car is good and this may affect them more next year. Cheers, Ian
Ferrari is my guess. Lotus will lose more people this season, I don't think Genii wants to throw the cash at this project that's required.
Seems like that's a money-driven move to me. The prestige would have been enjoyed by staying at Lotus. All the best, Andrew.
If DuPont is fake - kind of odd that they would announce James Allison as their new technical director....very weird
Don't know if its real or not - but it's very odd.... https://twitter.com/vincentdupontf1/status/332098546641805315
Spoof!.... Check out his join date..... I've heard of this "mythical" team before; When something/one goes AWOL it's often said "he's at DupontF1". Seems this guy has made himself the team principal. Cheers, Ian
No way Kimi returns. Whether that's good or bad depends on your viewpoint of course. As for, presumably, replacing Stefano, I'd vote "no" on that too. While he takes a lot of stick from the peanut gallery the guy knows his stuff IMO. Has he made mistakes? Sure, but then they all have. Stefano knows his way around. Cheers, Ian
Possible. But he's only been there a couple of years; I just don't like staff turnover in these "high level" positions I guess. Cheers, Ian
IDK - Mr Newey can't be bought. Apparently Mr. Allison can... I sincerely hope Fauxtus can keep up with development of the car this year and that Chester has been paying attention.
No word yet on where he's going, right? It doesn't even say if he's on the usual gardening leave. +1 They seem pretty confident at the moment. As for the Genii money tap I reckon it'll stay open as long as they're running up front - Those guys want to maximise their ROI and a top 2-3 finish would do that. Incidentally, and somewhat related apparently EJ tried to buy Lotus lock, stock & barrel before starting his own team. The price? £1.5mm! Cheers, Ian pitpass - Another twist in the Team Lotus saga
No word yet on where he's going. I'm thinking McLaren or Ferrari. Both have denied it, but as we know, that means nothing
