It certainly would be interesting if James Allison went to McLaren and Kimi followed him there to replace Perez. Probably not likely, but an interesting scenario...

 You gotta be joking, surely?

I really was kidding when I said he'd wind up there - Seems they're hiring every technical director that's ever lived!

OK, a decent brain trust is one thing, but this is getting silly! They've already got, what, 3-4 ex technical directors?

    Cheers,
    Ian

I read that and was contemplating who on earth would he replace. Surely they could use a few mechanics!! :)

They already can borrow Mclaren's crew if they need it. At least, that is what Hamilton does...

It might just be their strategy...just buy out the competition so there will be none on the track. lol.

    +1 :)

The only thing better would have been if they'd actually performed the change! ;)

One thing that I didn't quite get is if he can join a team straight away, or if he has to
wait until the end of the year. I guess if this was money driven he may already started
    working at the new place.

6 months, and we might not know his destination earlier than that.

Also to consider, he's already been 5 years at a then winning Ferrari and has been with Alonso on his 2 WDC.

    Not a bad cv ...

I can't buy it. I have to agree with Ian, that would just be silly. Crazier things have happened?

    McLaren, of course.

They´ve lost their big man to Mercedes recently, and their current car sucks; they need reinforcements, presto.

interesting strategy from mercedes. Employ all the TD's from other rival teams so that they own the monopoly on them and can't possibly lose....;)

However, Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has refuted this.

"I don't know any truth in that," he said. "I must deny it."

He did, however, later add: "We will communicate when there is news to say, but not where there are rumours."

Maybe Ferrari is ripping a page out of the MB playbook, snatching up technical directors...seriously though perhaps Allison must have had thoughts about the long-term commitment of "Fauxtus"....

True but If I recall, LdM denied completely the FA move. This time he has not at all denied it. Oh Stefano......start packing??? :)
