I have a 2020 Ferrari F8 with 14k miles. I just got it in December 5 months ago. Its had some odd gremlins. Currently the entire TPMS system has failed despite the sensors reading strong signals at the wheels so apparently it needs an entirely new ECU. But more concerning is this loud clanking sound that I hear when going over small bumps. It is for sure coming from the rear, right (passenger) side. I have taken the entire Lexan engine cover off at the hinges and driven around and it still makes the sound. Ive taken the plastic engine covers off and it still makes the sound. It's coming from somewhere deeper like below the engine. I suspect its either a loose motor mount (which I doubt since it doesnt make any special noises when revving), a loose part on the exhaust somewhere, or maybe a suspension issue somewhere on rear right wheel? Or maybe the actual main ECU is loose in its bracket in the right rear wheel well and bouncing around? Anyone ever had this issue? I dont want to send it to my dealer 3 hours away and pay god knows how much if it's an easy fix.

Here is from a bluetooth microphone I put in the engine bay to make sure it wasn't coming from the cabin itself.

On a side, related note - do you guys find it odd that the 7 year ferrari warranty doesnt cover a failed TPMS ECU? dont understand how that would not be covered

That does seem very strange because electrics are often one of the things that even aftermarket warranties will cover.

Maybe a bad weld on the rear cross member?

I guess I should send it to the dealer instead of having a local shop deal with it. Maybe it would be covered under the 7 year warranty? its only a 2020

Note - If you are in the U.S. the standard warranty is 3 years (4 years for the UK), unless you purchase the extended warranty via Ferrari. It does come with a 7-year "maintenance program" which covers normal annual maintenance - does not cover warranty type items.

    Rule out "stupid stuff" first...

Just a few weeks ago, I had the EXACT SAME SYMPTOM in my "daily driver".... loud metal THUNK when going over speed bumps etc. In my case it was from the driver's side front.

It was a big ROCK! Somehow a 3" diameter rock had found its way onto the lower control arm. Thankfully it never dislodged into "really important stuff" like steering and braking - or God forbid, eject at freeway speed and go through someone's windshield.

TOTALLY a long shot - but if you're able, and not done so already, do a visual check for "stupid stuff" like that

    :)

Ok so after taking her to my buddy who owns a body shop, we pulled the wheel and wheel well apart and spent literally an hour checking every single thing in the rear passenger area. We were just about to give up when the mechanic noticed that this piece was broken and just floating in the spring. its a dust cover/bump stop of some sort. It is supposed to be attached at the top and it is like that on the drivers side, but it fell down and was bouncing up and down making that loud clanking noise. Very happy we found the issue, but now I gotta figure out where to get it and who can install it! Anyone know what this is?
