I have a strange one. This has happened twice to me the past two times I've taken the 348 out. -Start the 348 in the morning after it has not been driven for 1-2 weeks -Go to work -Everything is normal, car doesn't make any strange sounds -Park at work in an underground garage -Come back in the evening -The minute I depress the clutch pedal, even a tiny bit like .5-1", I hear a very loud whining squeeking sound coming from the rear. It is louder than the engine with hyperflows and tubi -After about 3-5 minutes, the sound only happens when fully depressing the clutch, not by just lightly pushing on the pedal -After the car warms up a bit, sound goes away completely Any ideas? What is odd is that both times it did this in the evening only and not in the morning. I hope this is not another sign of impending gear box explosion
I think Pap is right on the money here. I had the exact same scenario just before the holidays. Easy fix. You can do it yourself and save a pile of money.
yeah, I called competizione and they agreed with Pap. I found the howto on the 348 bible, seems a bit involved for me. I'm going to let the professionals handle it.
LOL. Nope Although you have your brotherhood fix it crew ready to go it seems. You might have more fun during the repairs that I will
i bet it is the TO bearing as well. bad time...no it is simply that it is now getting nice outside and more cars are being driven i bet...after long winter naps
God man, it is *easy* to swap out that TO bearing. I didn't even have to jack up my 348 to change it. If I was anywhere near DC I could swap it for you while in my suit and tie. 4 bolts for the muffler support, 4 bolts connecting the muffler to cats, 8 or so bolts holding on the pumpkin...then reach inside, remove TO, replace with new TO, bleed clutch and TO with Motive (1 man) or with clutch pedal (takes 2 men that way), reinstall pumpkin+8 bolts, then bolt back in the muffler. Done. Order the Hill Engineering TO and the factory "triple seals" from Daniel. Buy some clutch fluid. Easy peasy.
Bah, its easy mate. You will have it apart in 30 mins. Bottom muffler off, pumpkin/starter motor bolts off and thats it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
