I think a car can sense it's owner love when it has its tires rotated and it's oil changed at home.

I just changed the oil and rotated tires on the Suburban, Miata and Volvo and they all seem very happy.

I always changed my own oil in my pickup, but now that I drive smaller cars (and don't have access to a garage as I live in apt.) I just take them to an oil change place every 6000 miles. The manufacturer intervals are 5000 severe and 10,000 regular, and I think I am closer to regular than "Severe", but I can't bring myself to wait longer than 6,000 miles between oil/filter changes.
