Sleeping good, cooled things down during our hottest month, and greening up all the vegetation.

You can almost hear the grass growing again! Undoubtedly will have some great driving weather once the rain clears out.

My yard is loving it. After all the rain earlier this year, my yard was looking the best it ever has. Then I slacked on watering and it was completely dead. Now it's already growing again.

Nothing but clouds and sprinkles here. Not anything I'd call rain. :(

    It IS cooler though.

Exactly. It was pleasant out this morning, enjoyed an espresso in the backyard while the dog re-sniffed every inch of her domain and protected us from attack squirrels. 😀

Except that I picked this weekend to take the family down to San Antonio before school starts! Got rained out on floating the river and Sea World closed at 3 today due to torrential rain. I can really pick em! :)

Gotta watch out for attack squirrels. They'll get you. I'm glad you have a dog to protect you :D

I'm sure glad I washed my car on Sunday. I really needed it but I wish it could've stayed spotless longer

It's pretty funny. After scattering the squirrels, she prances around, just so proud of herself. Here she is, about 2 weeks ago after one of her patrols. 😀

Very nice. I'm sure she's very happy to keep you safe from the attack squirrels.

When my dog was younger I could say "let's go get squirrels" and he would run to the back door and then bolt across the yard and and do a lap at full speed. It was so much fun to watch but now with his bad ACL I don't let him run too much.

On the topic of rain: he would get muddy and bring it in the house. Now all do is say "no mud" and he won't run in the mud. Hasn't been a huge issue this week since we have only gotten a little rain in Dallas.

I picture a bunch of us sitting on a porch having this discussion, looking at clouds and chewing on straw. :)
    Just sayin'.
Attack squirrels just rounded out the visual. Our Lab just looks and waits for the truly brave. Our rescue is terrified of them. One snuck up awhile back, he about wet himself.

It finally rained. Lots. And my basement is flooded. Again.

    Don't build a basement in Texas. :(

Yikes. Sorry to hear that. I didn't think many people had basements in DFW. After the rainy two days, today was glorious. Got up early for a drive in the 911 up around Amon G. Carter Lake. Lake looked full, and in a few places on the smaller FM roads, it looked like water had gotten up to the road...T

    Holy crap! Sorry to hear.

Is there not something you can do to prevent it from flooding?

Continued raining here. Rained for a little while this morning and then sunny most of the day, and passed out after dinner and woke up to more rain.

Rain gauge was full today. Must have had 5-7". All the floats were out of the pool, and the waterfalls down the hill out back were gushing.
Upside Jimpo- now you have indoor pool.
    Hope it gets better man.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can get everything resolved

Our pool was down a few days ago and I'm glad I didn't waste water to fill it back up. It's just about to overflow right now

I really need to mow my yard, but I don't plan on doing it until it dries out a little. No sense in making an hour job take 2 hours. Plus, more rain expected this week.

I'll be waiting for my HOA letter.

Edit: And it's already raining cats and dogs again today. Oh well, glad it's approaching the end of summer and my yard is growing back some. I should have taken before and after photos.

I take it the basement doesn't have a sump pump, or if it did it failed to come on.

Here's how TX basements work. At least in my case.

    1. Builder in 1964 thinks: "Hey, this house is sort of on a hill, wouldn't it be cool to put some of the house underground?
    2. House gets built. It's cool to have some of it underground.
    3. Builder fails to realize that TX ground isn't that stable, and TX water table is high.
    4. Nobody in TX knows crap about basements.
    5. Foundation likely cracks somewhere along one particular wall. You can't see it because it's behind 2x4's and sheet rock. And underground. You could probably find it if you were willing to rip out all the 2x4's and sheet rock. Or maybe not.
    6. Drainage around the outside of the house isn't great. Lots of rain means that puddles turn into places where goldfish could swim.
    7. The puddles rise above the raised area between the concrete deck in the back yard and the foundation that doubles as 5 feet of the basement wall. That might have a crack in it. That you might be able to find. Or not.
    5. Why would anyone put in a floor drain? Those are in the laundry room. Sump pump? The water doesn't get deep enough for sump pumps, but it's sure deep enough to soak your shoes when you walk through it.

The area in question has been flooded more times than I can count. Lots of rain causes it. A busted water heater causes it. A busted pump for the AC condensation removal causes it. A rotted sewer pipe in the ceiling causes it. It's ALWAYS wet.

This one was a first. My wife said "It's worse than I've ever seen it." That's saying a lot.
