    1,272 miles from new.
Seems like a lotta bother for just 1,272 miles.......

    Just because you can?
Not so much fun in your daily commuter traffic?
Bored; next project on the top burner already?

would like to see the car if you can share link or post picture. But either way, if you want a manual, this is still much cheaper than a factory manual, so seems like a win-win for both buyer and seller

I never found manual transmissions much work in urban traffic. Except maybe my 61 Corvette with the short stroke clutch pedal (two positions possible). That one was a bit heavy and ate the rubber pedal stops, too.

I say these "three pedal" conversions are a fad. Of course I said the same thing about black wheels and matte paint finishes!

I actually think history will be more kind to well done conversions than a base GTB with the old style F1.

Real trip would be a conversion to manual and Craig Calder and Dr. Kita's convertible conversion too... a manual spider 599!

Perhaps. But I'm basing my opinion on real world experience with a Challenge Stradale (CS) vs. a "gated" 360 Modena. The CS is totally engaging, faster and easier to drive. No thigh cramping when stuck in traffic with the paddle shifters!

I like manual transmissions as much as the next guy (or almost certainly much more than the next guy)... but that said, I'm not convinced this car should be worth much more than a regular 599. It will be interesting to see what the market thinks, as that is more relevant than what I think.

Not from the clutch, in a CS your thighs would be cramping from the crazy hard seat bolsters!

when is the last time someone posted here reports that the 599 factory manuals were really rough. haven't heard that in a few years, it is like Ferrari had already thrown in the towel before they were released.

You’re right. I’ve never driven a factory stick 599, but people I trust have and say it is not a good idea.

Here’s what I don’t get. A gated 550 is perfect. Mastering second to third under power is as good as it gets. Driving it home and flooring the throttle, without a clang, without looking, without tires chirping, without the hood dipping, is almost better than great sex. Hmm, I might need to rethink that. Great sex is more common than mastering a Maranello shift.

You can still buy 550s for a buck and a quarter. Guess what I paid for mine in 2003?

Yes this is correct as the shifting ECU software came with a fault from the factory due to which the revs dropped too fast. @360trev has now identified and fixed the fault so the manual 599 with this fix in is no different than a 550 or 575 from a manual shifting POV.

I've posted about it in the past. A 599 with an OEM conversion by the genius team at Exoticars, in partnership with Trev, Robin, and other specialists, is about as good as it gets.

So you would argue that, from a driving point of view, this car is better than a factory manual?

Trev can also flash the fix on factory 3 pedals. The factory was in a hurry on that one.

The carbon fibre gate surround in your car is exactly like the factor and so much better than the one in the car being sold by Sheehan. I would not buy the car just because how odd/off it looks.

Agreed - I would never consider a car that is not OEM. Conversions that are 100% OEM are original in my mind; the car sits as-designed by Ferrari with regard to all functionality/aesthetic... because it is. Had the original owners of the 575 and 599 specced the cars without F1, this is how they would have sat at delivery in 2004 and 2008 - without a single deviation. Else, it is just a modification, and to me, as it relates to a gated Ferrari, using anything but Ferrari parts debases the car substantially and I would never have interest.

The original manuals were not properly sorted because Ferrari did not waster R&D with Bosch, etc. The current conversions with the Trev ECU update makes the drivability miles ahead...I personally would be just with Pamela Anderson , even though she has now had more plastic surgery since Bay Watch... just sayin...

I've commented on that before, I would suggest all factory gated cars utilize his patch to the factory firmware. He's done a magnificent job making it all work. The car is a gem.
