[ Apologies if already answered, I did search for a while first... ] I have a Rotary RTP9 lift in my workshop - makes working on things *much* easier and more fun. Unfortunately some of my vehicles are too low for the lift arms to slide under -- the 308 just makes it, but the Murcielago is much too low. I first have to drive it up onto race ramps and then swivel the arms under it - this is seriously not fun, as I'm always scared I'll overshoot / burn the clutch (I ended up mounting a winch and then winching the Murci up the ramps, then swivel arms under. Not a fun game). So, does anyone know of some lower profile lift arms I can replace the Rotary ones with? I've tried their support, but that was a massive fail...
I had the low profile Rotary arms and return them for the standard thickness arms. I found with my lowered GT3, I still need a racedeck prop. Also, the arms do not extend as much as the 3 stage thicker arms, so could not use on my other cars for the jackpoints. I'm out of town now and don't have part number thinner rms. I would check with a Rotary installer, or call Rotary again, they are usually very knowledgeable.
I have the same problem with my 430 I which has been lowered, and my MaxJax lift. I fashioned a 2×12 with "stop wedges" to keep the can from rolling off. I marked the spot on my garage floor where I need to pull up, place the 2x12s under the rear tires and a firm push of the accelerator gets me on (or off). In my case the front arms clear the car, just barely. . . sorry, don't know why it's up side down. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was speaking with John Hooper, the tech at Lambo Carolinas, and we were discussing their lift setups. Now granite their front lift is a in-ground two center mount cylinder, it still has the same arm height of a standard post. When this lift was installed, they recessed the deck into the concrete and made aluminum covers for when its in the ground. He can pull a Gallardo Super Trofeo across the plates and still have to use lift pads. with your lift bolted on top of the concrete it wouldn't be hard to pull and recesse the concrete... ill see if i can find some pictures, also contact your local Nissan dealer, the GTR lifts are very low as well, maybe they can help...
I agree with SCKOMS. Make a 2 X 12 drive on ramp. Make it as thick as you need. Make it portable so you can move it out of the way once the car is up. Cheap effective Fix!
Had the same problem with my TR, but worse yet I could not drive it onto the boards as then the doors would not open (they hit the lift posts; should have gone asymetrical!). Ended up as Dave said using a scissor jack. On some cars you can pull the pads from the lift arms, swing the arms in, then put the pads back into the arms.
