404! Lamborghini not found.:(
I think he meant to post this: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CtD9DzHUro]Lamborghini LP420 SVM Birth cry. Out of timing but she started! - YouTube[/ame]
Yes that's it. I was out of town no pc and my phone does not copy links. THANK you for posting the correct link. She's out of tune and time but fired up!
We are about to hit 700,000 likes / fans on Face Book! I so hope to at least drive it once before we hit 1m likes LOL https://www.facebook.com/LamborghiniLp420SvmUrraco
When the motor jumped time on the first fire up it was due to the builder not correctly putting the belt in and not properly locking it down. FORTUNATELY he was so bad that when it jumped time it stopped before any valves were taken out. Compression check has one bank advanced too far and one bank retarded. So we decided to lock down the belt order the proper tools for doing the timing but needed to check if our thoughts were correct before we pulled the motor and the heads. If we were right cool if not the damage would have already been done so no harm in setting the time as best we could and do a compression check then a test fire. We were correct and the motor fired right up. Next we time and tune! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdZdjBdWOVA
Update.. Danny Huseman's racing has will be un-doing the entire front end of the Lp420 SVM Urraco. And installing a proper front suspension. Ted's Rod Shop is bidding out re-re-doing the front and rear bumpers and going to a better headlight solution. ABD Racing Werks is prepping the motor. In other words most things Alan Lee designed will be chucked... Work is contracted away we go once more..
UPDATE: Frank Killam (BMW Design Works) and an up and coming designer from Pasadena Collage of Design, "Gaston" are taking what was done to the car by Alan Lee, and fixing it.. First to go round butt.. Urraco tail lights have been secured. Next to go the ugly chin Then the Miura headlights back to pop ups. Cleaning up the lines. I will post the artwork soon.. New Trans on the way (Alan built the one in the car we have zero trust in it) Work has re-started..
Sounds promising! Looking forward to updates again...I must say, I wasn't a fan of the changes on the body...
The good part is the rear clip and chin are easy to unbolt and replace. Lesson learned never trust a guy who does not use his real name..
I can't wait to see the final product. I couldn't go to the Concorso when I was in Monterey this year but hopefully I will see it some time when it is done.
And away we go... Once more into the breach.. Rear end removed so the re-re-make can start. Cut Line for the front end, Old 928 L@@king butt be gone More UGLY going away Front, headlights and rear off Front ready for removal.
Those drawings are excellent. The reason: he used a frickin hand and pencil!!!!! That design is fantastic and very much like it came from the design dept at Lamborghini....decades ago.
The side scoops look a lot like the wide rocker panels popular with fieros... http://cliff.hostkansas.com/pffimages/P5190485.JPG
Karlton, for some odd reason I'm starting to feel your pain on this build. Hopefully the last builder did the right thing and compensated you for his boneheads. I know this is a tribute car for your father, but there has to be a point where it's simply not worth the heartache. Been there done that on a restoration that went over budget by over 150k. Probably over 200k who knows that's why it's now up to my lawyers to recover from that mess. Sadly this is starting to look like one of my past projects.
I must have missed a few posts or something.....what happened with the builders along the way? I saw donations and Alan L stuff chucked? In the meantime, I'll get a chance to re-read the pages.
Alan Lee (he does not use his real name) took me for a very expensive ride... The suspension he built into the car would have never worked, motor was mounted wrong and drive axles would not have lived at any speed. Body work was also bad.. So we had to have the suspension re-done. To fix the rear clip it is cheaper to build a new rear end. Same with the front, the "Miura" like headlamps and pop ups he made would have never worked either.. The wiring he did was a fire hazard in the making but it too would have never worked.. The brakes he used both SAE and metric fittings and one banjo bolt was not even a banjo bolt. He used an ABS unit off an A8 you know what would have happened to a rear wheel drive lite car set for a much heavier 4 door quatro? Yes failure.. Unsafe if you could get it to run and even unsafer to try and stop it. The motor he build hand gernraded on first test.. The trans he build we have zero trust in.. So we are replacing it now so there is no issue. That said, we re-wired the car all new. Motor is re-built New trans on the way with better gear ratios and a better diff! With the dumping of the lower front clip and going back to POP up Urraco lights, I decided to go 180 and have new art done so we can make it more Urraco like I wanted in the first place not so much 928 looking. Even found a new old stock set of Urraco tailights. Ted's Rod shop has the car we have a budget I can live with to get it done. Yes I am looking for sponsors for wheels and tires and paint but even if I do not get any we will push this one done. Gone too far to turn back, not far enough to have a lawn artwork so we move forward. Now a little departure Danny Huseman (Huseman's racing) wants the body of the front end removed so he can construct the front suspension more like a race car and drop the body / hood on it. so teds is removing the body now. So when Danny gets the car in March he can knock it out. He already has the measurements and how he wants to do it. its just a matter of getting his shop time. The cut line for the body is just in front of the windshield so it will not show much but will make front end servicing very easy.
I know you have your own vision but I will suggest that you put a Urraco Bob style front air dam on it. The car will look deadly with it and would go well with your flared fenders. For the rear I would go with a stock look but with a modern twist of a central exhaust tip like an Aventador and some flush taillights. I thought the rockers you had were good and would leave them. Go more modern retro and it will turn heads for all the right reasons. Image Unavailable, Please Login
