Sounds like what happened to me on my restoration. I contracted the restoration shop to do exactly what I wanted they built an entirely different engine. Minded I supplied 100% of the very rare factory race engine parts and they did not use them claiming them to be too "peaky" and I would not enjoy what I was building. Then they gave me a bunch of BS about the color I selected eventually they agreed to paint the car to my color. Basically what happened with me the restorer built the car for himself, thinking if he (as in I) doesn't pay me I'll just keep the car which by the way is worth in excess of 300k. He's smoking crack! I've been in a very expensive legal battle for a couple of years with no end in site. If that Alan Lee guy did to me what he's done to you I would have hung him by his underwear. I would have hung him out to dry for not meeting the 50th Anniversary deadline. It's not my car, and even I was pissed about that. I wonder how these guys can stay in business doing the crap they do. I'll tell you what, I've been extremely cautious having anyone touch any of my cars including my Countach. People will do just about anything these days to get into your pocket steal your $ and destroy the car in the process.
Its a shame he had a chance to make a name for himself and he so blew it.. where is your car now? Here is the progress of the UN-Alan Lee on my car
Surgery has begun! Cutting out all the bad suspension work and prepping the car for Danny Huseman to put in the proper front suspension.
This thread is great and the build is outstanding.....but I wish I could go through all of you posts and insert the actual pics instead of the links to the pics. I must have missed the post showing the "Allen Lee" finished project.... Did you have finished exterior and interior pics posted at some point prior to pulling it back apart.
Alan got fired for great reasons.. He did not know what he was doing and tried to hide it in BS.. Car is over at Teds Rod Shop in riverside and being re-re-designed as I wanted in the first place. Soon I will have photos and I will post the photos not links.
New Heads arrived New Trans on the way 100% custom built for the car. Motor out getting ready for a proper build.. I feel Your pain Karlton, You've spend so much $$ and time already and have to do another rebuild. Mine is already 10 months because my mechanic works from 4pm on weekdays and on the first 4 months he worked alone. I always inspect his work after office, and full day on saturdays. Nothing is more annoying that getting Your car restored / rebuild not the way You want. I hope from now on Your car is gonna be perfect. Cheers, Tafy
Ordered the Transmission for the LP420 SVM Urraco today. Europeantransmissions They do not have an active FB account but here is the link https://www.facebook.com/pages/European-Transmissions-Parts/105273526205758?fref=ts
BIG NEWS for the LP420 SVM Urraco! Tomorrow the car goes to Danny Huseman to have the front suspension built. The next photos will be shocking and well a little disturbing. But the end result will stun!
NEW MOTOR, NEW TRANS! And NEW NEWS, NEWS!!!!!!! Custom LCD Guages will be done by https://www.facebook.com/zadatech For those of you purists who desire NAV, Blue Tooth, full time DVD Dash Cam, rear View Cam and radar / laser system and more we have gone with App-Tronics Smart Nav-5 system. Must say, I have been testing this out for a while now in my track car, LOVE the G force readings and Map overlay so I can check my lines and speed on track. All in a Mirror that will pop on your old Urraco bringing it into the modern age and it looks semi stock The Blue tooth phone hook up is spot on better then my Jag by far and away. Also has a built in FM transmitter so you can blue tooth your smart phones radio ( i use slacker and Sirius) to your stock sound system. How is that for cool. The Built in DVR is fun too you can see where your car was and what conversations were going on in your car when your not there. https://www.facebook.com/pages/App-Tronics/284600198352730?ref=br_tf Here is the build team email from today. Hi Team, I made up a simple spreadsheet for all the functions of the car that I can think of, with the input / command and control and data needs. Please feel free to alter it and let the team know if I have neglected anything. (YES I left off the drive by wire as that is its own system Danny and Eric have said they can make the brackets needed) Having talked to Joe and Eric today things are moving along quite nicely! Got the good news that App-Tronics can handle the TPMs as well.. BOY that mirror rocks, it solves so many issues... Matin the main screen does NOT have to handle the Main Heating and Air! The system Eric is installing in the car is not electronic based, simple cables so only the seat air on and off will be driven by the 10" TFT. Joe is working on the seats later next week and will get with you on what you need to send signal to turn on and off the heat or air in the seats. ALSO Please use your 7" screens for the dash to help save money time and effort we will modify the dash to accept them. Matin I will know if I can get my hands on a BLUE TOOTH controller for the lifting suspension as that would make integration easy for you. IF not we will use the switches and NOT drive it to the screen but it would be cool on the screen. NO 3D Mouse with the App-Tronics Smart Nav Mirror and 10" TFT we will be using the space that was cut out for the 3D mouse for window up and down switches, Air-Heat Controls. Mark and Matin can you two please hook up and see what data on the Smart NAV can be shared on the 10" display as well, just to make things look as cool as they are. [email protected] [email protected] The goal here is to help sales for both of you, so far I can see a match made here. LCD dash and all modern car aftermarket system. If only the Air Con was blue tooth we would be all set. For those on the team that do not know where we are now and plans, Car is at Danny's where he is cutting out loads of bad / ugly to be replaced with cool and *****en front suspension. As expected NOTHING Alan did is worth saving in fact its dangerous as it tied nothing together. We are so thankful Danny has taken on this project! He is also making the gas tank, I scored an original Lamborghini gas cap even! He will be using a new rack in the car and will be hooking up with Joe on steering column controls we will need to use. Eric will be making the new rear end of the car using original Urraco taillights and license plate light housings he will convert to LED Front end and rear tail clip will be Urraco brought forward not Miura meets a 928
Sound good! I think your on the right track now. It's the subtle updates that make a car stand out. The factory did their thing now just tweak it a little. If it was my car I would replicate the front air dam of Urraco Bob as a nod to Mr Wallace with maybe some LED running lights, a Murcie center exhaust tip and some 3 piece wheels 17" front 18" back w/ deep lip and billet "bravo" style phone dial centers. Oh and the car would be Balloon white or telesto grey but hey it doesn't matter what I want, build your car the way you want. I'm just here for ideas.
Greetings LP420 SVM Urraco Fans, We need your help to finish the car.. Any donation will help us get this car ready for Concorso! Paypal [email protected] any donation you can to help us get her back on the road. THANK YOU SMOOTH SAILING!
