Please - no "buff right out" one-liners. That's just plain sad to see. #000!! Who among us wouldn't have LOVED to have that car. I hope no one was seriously injured. Jedi
It is not 000 car it is 0000/350 car. No one hurt. Car is Factory mule/test car..not a customer or for retail sale car...all about testing the extreme of the car.
Clear this up, it was a REQUIRED test crash of the car for the factory for various safety regulations for Govermant agencys. If you look close you will still see the wire harness and stand in the front counsel area that hols recording devices. You will also note the car is pretty stripped as far as the non customer seats etc etc. My understanding is the cats, as part of the cras, the muffler system, is designed to break away so as not to cause engine fires in crashes. You will also note the car is stored, as required for later review, with several other new crash tested cars, from VW family.. These are just some slight details I get from my source, they dont release a lot of info. I was also told the cars, crash test one, are kept for 15 years. Mainly for later possible re-testing or for court related litigation down the road for a cutomer car crash.
the same thing they have done with allmost every model Prototypes and first of the productioncars are often used in crash testing.. Like the silhouette proto, one of the urraco protos and the original countach lp500 prototype.. all gone in crash testing or was put in the scrapheap behind the factory
No VW cars on the pic, just Alfa, Maser, Opel, Aston and Fiat. Edit, there is a Porsche in the pic aswell, a VW car.
