I think some of you need to go back and read Ferrari's denials regarding Kimi's signing back in 2005/2006.

By no means anti Alonso. I just dont see him going there. Others see signs he is. Fair enough. Denials havent been put out. They have denied him the seat altogether. His own mouth gives him away. He wouldnt say a word either way if this were true. He would do as Kimi did and say nothing or politely deflect, he has done neither.

He has won 2 titles. Simple opinion is he wont be winning another in a red car next year. The following year..who knows. Some posted as fact he has an OPTION. When and where was it signed and how do they know. SO far nothing has been offered. Like others post here that Luca shall get what he wants. On face value he doesnt want the HASSLE of Alonso just yet.

(I have been saying this for the last year, Alonso will not race a Ferrari as long as Kimi is there, maybe possibly as teammate to Massa. My prediction is that Renault will be in the top 5 on the grid in Barcelona, and that Fernando will podium in the Renault by Monaco, after that on a regular basis. Flavio is not stupid, he is not paying Alonso big bucks to stay for one year. The Renault will catch up to BMW very quickly. Alonso will win another WDC in Renault before 2011)

Ferrari not interested in signing Alonso

Bringing Fernando Alonso to Ferrari to partner world champion Kimi Raikkonen would not be desirable, team president Luca di Montezemolo said on Tuesday.

Alonso denied this month that he had an escape clause in his contract with struggling Renault that might allow him to leave for Ferrari at the end of the Formula One season.

However, Spain's double world champion did say contracts were "very flexible" given his departure from McLaren last year.

Felipe Massa's shaky start for world champions Ferrari this season increased the speculation.

However, Massa won in Bahrain and now Montezemolo has said Alonso would not be the ideal driver.

"To line up a Raikkonen-Alonso double act would mean wanting to damage yourself. I want two equal drivers that work together," the president told Tuesday's Gazzetta dello Sport.

Di Montezemolo also said he would be devoting more time to Ferrari after stepping down as head of Italy's industry body.

Alonso, meanwhile, told El Pais newspaper on Monday that his future at Renault would depend on the team providing him with a car capable of fighting on top.

"There are a lot of factors to evaluate," the Spaniard said. "My first option is to stay with Renault if we manage to create a winning car, and the truth is that we are moving forwards.

"But what I do want is a car with which I can win. There are several, Williams, Toyota, BMW and Ferrari, of course, who are always on top no matter what. I wouldn't want to continue fighting to get into Q3."

I think where the situation is different today, if you read between Luca's lines, every team has learned FINALLY about pairing two WDC's. It is brain damage. An Alonso did cross a few lines that would make him difficult to trust.

You will not see an Alonso/Raikkonen pairing at Ferrari.

The way the World Wide F1 Federation soap opera reads. Alonso will win in spain, with Kimi second, and quick Nick third, Hamilton will either break or crash.

Funny, BMW doesn't want him either.

Mario Theissen in Bahrain had no time for suggestions that BMW Sauber's evolution into a truly top team will have stirred the interest of Fernando Alonso.

When asked about his future earlier this weekend, Alonso confirmed that he is on the market for a winning seat in 2009, mentioning both Ferrari and BMW as potentially attractive options.

But as Robert Kubica captured the Swiss based team's first pole position on Saturday, Team Principal Theissen insisted that he is very happy with his current pair of drivers.

"I prefer not to talk about other teams," the German told the Spanish newspaper Diario AS, when asked if he had thought about poaching Alonso from Renault for 2009.

"I am very happy with our own drivers," he added.

Theissen insists that he regards pole sitting Kubica, the 22-year-old Pole, as one of the best drivers on the grid.

"If we did not think that, we would not have him on board," he said.

we all saw how Fred destroyed a team last year with all his whining and crying. and this year, instead of shutting up and trying to get things right with Renault, he's busy hinting about next season. he's a great driver, but with a really troubled attitude, IMO.

You're right about the Mclaren part. You have to take into consideration though, that he's probably asked these questions all the time. The only thing I recall him saying is that "Formula 1 contracts are flexible", and "I will stay with Renault if I have a winning car". I don't see a problem with either of these statements, as any accomplished driver would feel the same way.

Who says it has to be a Raikkonen/Alonso pairing? Doesn't have to be a Massa/Alonso pairing, either.

"While speculation over Fernando Alonso's future continues, with many believing that the Spaniard is destined to join Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo has said that such a move would be damaging at this time."

"At this time." He's neither confirming or denying the possibility that Alonso could come to Ferrari. Only that he can't join "at this time."

Kimi has said all along that he's not going to be around to much longer. I think LDM wants Alonso, but figures it's a bad idea to put him on the team with Kimi. That or he's trying to throw everyone off. Either way it will probably happen eventually. Only time will tell.

Destroyed the team? Reaching a bit there aren't you, Brian? Lewis Hamilton is just as guilty as anyone for de-stabilising the team last year and losing them a sure title. He was the one that disobeyed a team order. Ron Dennis is also guilty for letting him get away with it. FA may have an attitude problem but he did not destroy McLaren. They destroyed themselves.

We could say that destroying the team was the only team work at McLAren last year.

The only reason Lewis, as you say de-stabilised the team which IMO is reaching it ,was due to the fact he surprised EVERYONE at how good he was, as a rookie, so guilty for being fast.

For the record RD didn't let him get away with it remember, (GO SWIVEL).

Pretty much. Everyone blames Alonso, but the truth is they were all at fault. The in-fighting between the drivers was a normal thing. It was up to Ron to calm it down and stand by his number one driver. He didn't, Lewis choked, and they lost the title.

Being fast, absolutely. Respecting his position within the team and helping the team to win the title, not so much. He was out for himself, and threw it away under pressure. He got caught up in all the hype of a possible rookie WDC and successfully took control of the team, shutting out Alonso. If Ron Dennis wouldn't have let his feelings for his prodigy get in the way of running the team, McLaren would have won the driver's title last year. I don't remember RD imposing any sanction on Lewis either, if you do fill me in.
