Luca leaving early?

Luca messed things up big time when he fired Aldo costa. Costa has been leading Ferrari f.1 design ever since 2005 if i'm not mistaken...of thoses, 2006, 2007 and 2008 where all championship contenders, in 2009 the car was not so good but still the 3º best on the grid, and the Brawn was "illegal"...2010 again Ferrari had a tittle contender, even if the Red Bull was a better car, but hadn't Alonso made so many mistakes, they could have ended up with the title....truth is, by that time, the wind tunel was already not working properly, and it never did untill Costa was replaced....Brawn knew how good he was and didn´t waist any time bringing him to mercedes...and just look the evolution they had since Costa joined!!...obviously it´s not all his doing but sure he contributed a lot. Instead Ferrari went and picked Fry (on Alonso's request and he as done nothing...)

 

This could be an ominous sign in an ancient code of omertà.

Or just that he had to catch a flight.

 

Leaving early may or may not be uncharactaristic. His comments on the way out were what's telling. Now let's hope he puts his dissatisfaction into action.

 

Enzo didn't even attend races. LDM's presence in the pits over the last several years has been to motivate and send a clear signal that everyone, not just him, expects results. Even his patience has limits. The look on his face said everything—time to retool within, but I think, having cut his teeth under Enzo, he's also frustrated within the current direction of modern F1. Ferrari never was, and should never be, a test bed for green technology.

I was thinking like Len S, Enzo rarely went to races.

If the big boss leaves it's either A) early business meeting the next day in a different time zone or B) a message that things are bad, everyone knows it, but for the boss to hang around accomplishes little.

The team manager, the engineers, the pit crew, the rest of the support guys at every race, sure, they are the cheerleaders, not the boss.

 

Really? Enzo's last Gp was back in the 30's.... he never even went to the races. Monza for practice and Qualifying on saturdays untill about 1968.

Di Montezemolo is sending the top guys the message that heads are going to roll. having said that he's the one who drove all the big shots away.... Luca meet your petard!

 

If I were on the team I would rather he left than have him stomping around the pits being angry at everyone. There's nothing he can do to change anything there at the racetrack, so if he was that upset, it was probably best that he left. Being negative and yelling at people in that situation would only make things worse. Best to save that frustration for the meeting room where you can do something constructive with it.

Do you perform better with your boss breathing down your neck at your job? Probably not.

 

Exactly!!! Alonso said the same thing about the car. Luca was once a Ferrari F1 team manager so I believe he knows all to well how the tide turns in F1, I had no opinion when I saw him turn away or his words to Buxton. It is what it is.

Since Luca is top dog at Ferrari, he is ultimately responsible to the performance of the F1 team.

In large organizations, the reason they are large is so the people in charge can point fingers when the ship goes down. It's too early to chop heads off, in the season at least. But it's clear there will be a shake up in the F1 side of things
