Luca M to replace Agnelli as Chairman of FIAT

Seems like a firm pro-Ferrari turn out. I don't think that Luca would ever let Ferrari get in the hands of a Ford, or VW. He, like most of us, would rather close the shop then sell to them. With Russ and Jean moving up the ladder, it seems like the cars will be stepping up a notch with more of the F1 programme going to production technology.

Fiat and Alfa have not being doing too hot in the US, Luca if i remember correctly, is pretty agressive about the foreign markets of Asia and the Americas. I think 2-3 years before Fiat makes a re-entry to this Japanese motorcar dominated market of America.

 

Don't have a whole lot to contribute, but was just watching some CNBC late night and they had a short segment speaking on Fiat. Unfortunately, only caught the tail end of it. Shares were up 4% this morning and they were speaking very positively.

 

And also Martin Leach, Automobile Magazine Man of the year for 2004, as the new CEO of Maserati

 

yes very true, Ferrari and Maserati have just pierced the Russian and Chinese markets with very promising results now just imagine what Monetezemolo will do for Alfa Romeo, he will bring them back for sure to NA with their own identity and limit them from getting to mingled with GM,

I vote for a Super Gruppo Ferrar- Maserati-Alfa Romeo, and for the lower market Fiat-Lancia

 

I must disagree about the Maser coupe's styling. I thought the same until I saw all of them, the 575, Vanquish, various Porsches, a 456 and the Maser's all together. The Maser has much more brio, more masculinity, than pictures convey; surprisingly more than the Ps.

I also disagree about the Vanquish. Something about that giant grill ruins the line of the car. I understand it's traditional, but it's bulky and awkward to my American eyes. As is the seemingly unfinished rear flank. Thankfully the DB9 designer ironed out, literally, that flaw. In black on the Vanquish, that bulge is more disguised, and the car is stunning. The 575 is much more svelte and clean, perhaps too clean in black. It needs a lighter and brighter color to display it's lines. Although the one I saw had black interior and standard rims which subdued the effect even more.

Thanks very funny... 1/4th of the Ferraris rolling off the line for the year, goes to the drivers paycheck. LOL

 

yeah but Maserati is whole another can of worms. Good cars, great mangement, but the most awfull luck in the world. They have had their spate of bad luck, hopefully Luca can turn things around.
