I doubt we have a choice and Lambo has had great success with their 4wd system so why not Ferrari? I doubt it will do any harm to their image considering the many advantages 4wd have to offer in terms of not only safety but in performance, just my opinion.

I don't see where in the article he says he's going to sell a 4-wheel drive Ferrari. It said he merely turned up with two Ferraris in a 2+2 (four seats) configuration.

Well, many on FChat have lamented that some Lamborghinis can feel very heavy to turn into a corner due to the 4-wheel drive system. Here's a thread on it:

And the performance of many of these cars in the Ferrari/Lamborghini league is so extraordinary that you're never going to be able to use it all anyway. If they want safety, people buy a Volvo. If they want the drive to involve them, they buy a Ferrari.

I would lament a 4-wheel drive system in a Ferrari as an ominous fundamental change in the company's ethos.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    Andrew...here :)

"In the future we will sell a Ferrari with four-wheel drive [but] we will never sell a family Ferrari," Mr Montezemolo states.

That is a typical characteristic of any 4wd vehicle which I'm fully aware of.

I have to disagree with that statement.

When it comes down to it Ferrari is just another car company that must compete, even to the slightest degree, with other manufacturers and customer wants and needs.

Aha - I just did a search on that page for that line of text and discovered it. Turns out an image on the page didn't load and I mistook the blank space for the end of the article... I thought it was a bit on the short side.

    Many thanks,
    Andrew.

Shame, the BBC could not find a better backdrop for the interview than a pile of traffic cones!!

You just cannot get the staff these days.......:(

I believe Luca is more focused on the business side of Ferrari and not the passion. He's a PR kind of guy who loves success, but not what it represents to the fans. He'd make an excellent political figure.
