I've been looking at a few of the service threads and have noticed a few mentioning a Snap-on AS-281 Aluminum lined socket. Well I've tried but can't find one. Spoke with Snap-on and they said that they never made such a tool unless it is dealer specific. Any ideas on where I can get one?

If your only concern is protecting the finish on your bolts, I'll sell you a custom Craftsman "Ziplock freezer bag lined" socket for $20 + shipping. ;) Works like a charm.

A few months ago, a guy on EBAY was selling a socket like you are asking about. Being a sucker I bought it...like the spare set of relays I bought. May never need it but, ..... I still prefer the old fashioned T bar wrench from Kragen. More leverage and you can push in hard to keep it fully engaged on the lug nut.

    Mark,
If you still want the Al socket, Superformance has one
    http://www.superformance.co.uk/a-308/wheels.htm
"Chrome Saver Aluminium Wheel Socket, ½ drive. Prevents the chrome from chipping off of wheel bolts (usually caused by hard steel sockets), which leads to the chipped bolts rusting
    CS-01 £36.95"
'also sounds like Jason's custom sleeve might be a suitable substitute! And it'll work with Paul's wrench, too!

You could use the zip bag... or '

I found mine on ebay works great even has a plastic sleeve over the socket too. I just dont remember the seller. Search ferrari socket or protective socket.
