My 360 Spider is a 2003. When I release the luggage compartment lid there is barely enough space on the lid gap to insert my fingers to fully release the latching mechanism to fully open the lid. Do you guys experience the same issue?

My BMW M5 and M6 had spring loaded hood stops. The spring lifts up the hood by about half inch once hood is released so that there's room to insert our fingers to fully release the latching mechanism. I tried to install BMW hood stop with springs on my 360 spider but it won't fit....

Has anyone found a replacement spring loaded lid stop from BMW or Porsche to replace ours and make life easier for all of us?

My 360 coupe, year 2000, is the same. After releasing the latch, I just lift the lid a bit, reach in, and release the safety catch. It's easy.

I asked my Ferrari dealer how to get my fingers in there without lifting the lid. His response was that one shouldn't fiddle around with Ferrari design features because originality is important to preserve the resale value; however, he was willing to refer me to a good doctor who could surgically shave my finger tips down to make them thin enough to fit into the small gap. I'm thinking about it but I imagine it would hurt.

    LMAO!

I will search and see if I can find a spring loaded hood stop from another car maker that fits our cars.

I have the same issue --- need to raise the hood slightly to get to the latch.
    BTW welcome home.

Thanks Alan! Its good to be home. No place like home :)

I am all done installing my new car stereo and new amp.
Done fine tuning all the sound settings. Took the most time was cleaning up all the wiring.

The previous owner had a really nice stereo system installed but it was 10 year old technology. Sound could be improved so I replaced the amp and installed a new DVD player with iPod interface, Bluetooth and Pandora. Sounds much better now.

The wiring was different story. Supposed to be professionally installed but the wiring was like boiled spaghetti. It was a mess... Some wiring were unsecured, some were touching bare metals, wiring were too longt and ship shanked behind the dashboard, metal shavings and wood shavings all over, etc.

    Done!

This weekend I will finally be installing underdash footwell LED welcome lights and LED ambient lighting. Then find time to install my laser jammers. Just need to learn how to remove front bumper.

Oh, Engine Bay LED lights are done too. Will post the DIY here soon.
I will need to update my membership so I can post more photos.

    Have a great day Alan!

I helped Tom at Sport Auto remove and reinstall the bumper and for two people it's a breeze. My advice would be to not try it by yourself -- it's fairly heavy and bulky.

Welcome back Dan! Yes the action on the front bonnet is just like mine. It opens about 1/8 of an inch and then I get to use my fingertips to work it open enough to get fingers in there and then it's all gravy from there!

FWIW I assumed that this was the intent of the design since at great speed we wouldn't want this sucker popping off! I use my bonnet all the time so I am worried about messing up the paint where I have to dig to open it up!

    Thanks for the info Alan!

I will ask my girlfriend :) to help me when its time to install the laser jammers.

Is the front bumper removal instructions in the Service Manual? I have the service manual on a CD.

Thanks Kevin! its good to be home. No place like home.

First thing I did as soon as we got home was drive my 360 :)

Thanks for letting me know your bonnet has the same "issue" too" and not just mine.

Good point on perhaps its like that by design. Never thought of it that way.

    Thanks again.

Freaking genius! Thanks for sharing Steve.

Can you share where you source the spring?

I will try and find something similar for the luggage compartment.

    Thanks!

I got mine at the local Ace hardware store. The black piece sitting on top is actually a plastic grommet that so happened to be the correct size. The spring is mounted with a piece of rubber just to give some friction on the base.

Here you go. Took us about ten minutes to remove and ten minutes to put back. Most of the time is for removing the wheels to get to the vented panels in the wheel arches.
