I've seen 288GTO and F40 luggage with Chassis # (I presume) embossed on them and I've seen some without. How did that work? Where the Chassis #'s added later or was that provided when the car was presented new? Ron
Ron: Requests were made via the Ferrari dealer to have either the name of the first owner or the chassis number of the car inscribed onto a leather tag or embossed onto a brass plate and affixed to the luggage. This was applied by Schedoni themselves prior to supply using the same round-head rivets you see used throughout the luggage. Some Schedoni sets of luggage were supplied without any inscription at all. Additionally, some people ordered luggage for their GTOs and F40s post-production, and in this case it could be ordered directly from Schedoni. As of last summer, Schedoni would still carry put special order luggage requests, with the leather finished in any color and the ID tags done however you want.
Here is old 'magic fingers' doing what we are discussing... forget to mention, some of the leather ID tags were simply sewn onto the luggage rather than riveted on. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
