Wow it appears I've been a lurker for almost three years! That's pretty sad considering the reason I don't post is because I really don't have anything profound to say. But that's probably just a copout because I'm full of profound crap.

Anyway I live in Utah and make a living at the day to day as a software developer. However I will soon be retiring from that and doing investing full time. The investing has been going so great that my dream of owning a ferrari, or several :) , will soon be possible.

I absolutely love exotics and the ferrari f430 Scuderia is one of my dream cars. I'll be getting my first "real" car in 2-3 months, a BMW M5, and then shortly after I'll be getting my first ferrari (haven't decided which one yet, I think I want to work up to the Scuderia). Ownership is near so I figured I better start contributing to the forum that has tided me over and kept me sane for so long while working toward my first f car.

    Hi there,
I just found this forum last night when I came across a post on hypermiling, which I'd never heard of until a week ago. Anyway, I've always loved Ferraris but don't own one. I hope to one day, but at least hope to drive one if nothing else. I've only ridden in a couple, a Daytona when I was about 12 years old and a Testarossa about 10 years ago. Now the same guy who had those has a 355 that I hope to get a ride in before he sells it (if he hasn't already). I have to say reading about everyone's Ferraris on here is sort of frustrating though. I feel like a teenage boy who can't get a girl looking at porn!

Hi my name is Nikhil. I just joined this forum a few days back. I'm usually on M3forum.com which is where I heard about F-Chat. I had been looking for a section where I could introduce myself and I finally found it today. I currently drive a 2003 BMW M3, which I am looking to sell as I am moving back to my home country (India). Anyways, I'm glad this forum exists and I of course love the showroom section. It helps slow and boring days at work go by faster and also keeps the dream of owning a Ferrari alive. I have only been in a Ferrari once, got a ride in it. Hopefully, I'll at least be able to drive one someday.

I'm pretty new to the boards but have always loved Ferrari's. I don't own one yet but hope to in the future. I'm a Police Officer in northern Utah, which is partly why I can't afford one. :)

I proposed to my wife at the Ferrari dealership at the Wynn in Vegas in March and was married in June. I warned her before we were married that if she didn't already have a love of exotics and racing (not Nascar!!! :O ), she better develop one soon. I really enjoy F1, WRC, DTM, ALMS, and other touring car events. I'm pretty close to the Miller Motorsports Park and plan to take my 2003 Audi A6 2.7T (twin turbo, GIAC chipped) to the trackdays soon. I'd love to meet up with some of you if you are going. Maybe you can help me get my feet wet as I've never done a trackday. :)

Anyway, I've really enjoyed lurking over the last couple months and hope to be an active poster.

    Looks like its my turn!

My name is Jeff, forum lurker since April 2008, and am currently residing for the past year and a half in Oregon after 28 years in Dallas (Plano, McKinney), Texas. Akron, Ohio for 5 prior to that. Two kids, divorced, Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, and Cleveland Indians fan. Grew up with a 308GTB poster on the wall of my bedroom, and still have it 20-odd years later, crinkled edges and all. Ferrari fan for years and years. Currently own no sporty cars, and until recently owned a restored 1968 VW Beetle.

No prancing horse ownership yet, but ideally I would like to see a 328 or a CS in my garage. I have found this forum to be a wealth of information- I can't believe I hadn't stumbled across the site sooner!

Go Masa! If he wins the world championship, we should celebrate by watching more beach volleyball....

That should be filled with all the precursors that fchatters should need to peg me as sub referencing post whore that I truly am!

    Sono Dino!
Living in Bremerton Wa with no Italian cars in Scudria Dinomium, that is just sad... My first two cars were Lanica Betas. One ended up in a tree and the other burned to the ground. Now in my forties, I still need a Ferrari.
    Cheers.

30 yrs old live in Central FL. Grew up loving Ferrari's particularly the Testarossa. Dream would be to own 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo. Love sports cars and used to fall asleep when i was a kid with Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars in my bed! No Ferrari's yet, but still trying to figure out an occupation that could allow me to buy one. I dabble in the stock market and kind of leaning towards that. My buddy and I are also talking about starting a motorcycle salvage business.

The only tattoo I have is the prancing horse on my left shoulder and I named my dog Enzo.

On a couple of other car forums but I find this one fascinating. Presently drive a 03 Mitsubishi Evo VIII.

    Hello community ..

Take care - Helmut is back !

I already have been registered on FChat but decided to withdraw due to personal reasons a couple of years ago.

50y young (hate to be called *old*) and live in Germany, just 25min from the Nurburgring

I've a special sense of black humour & like open-minded down to earth people who see the beauty even in small simple things. I'm fluid in mind and body and have a free spirit. I see the real people behind their facades. People often come to me for help and advice. Confidence, respect and peace are important to me.

I neither believe in any organized religion nor do I trust in politics. To me it's just a bunch of liars and actors.

My Ferrari affinity is mainly for 50s, 60s and early 70s but also for other marques of that period (common bread and butter cars, classic shooting brakes and sports cars)

    my fav automotive movies:
    - Harold & Maude (1971, I love that black Jaguar E-type hearse)
    - Le Mans (1971, with Steve McQueen)
    - Bullitt (1968, with Steve McQueen)
    - Vanishing Point (1971, Barry Newman crossing the USA in a 1970 Dodge 440 Challenger R/T)
    - The Car (1977, A sleek possessed car terrorizes everyone it comes in contact with)
but also charismatic ones like *The Green Mile*, *Gandhi*, *The Silence of the Lambs*, *From Dusk Till Dawn* ...

I have a huge automobile library (preferable o/p and rare titles) and well, check my profile to see my other big passion

Hello. This is my first night/morning lurking on FerrariChat and I am hooked. I stumbled on the site while looking for some background on Glickenhaus's P4/5. I am a 27 year old medical student who has been hooked on cars ever since I was old enough to sit in the passenger seat and peer over the dashboard. One of the first words I learned to say was "car." When I see and hear a Ferrari I think of one thing: my father. He is someone that I have always looked up to for his hardwork and determination. One of his dreams was to own a Ferrari by the time he was 40. He is 54 and he still hasn't had the experience of driving one as life and responsibility have gotten in the way. When I see/hear a Ferrari, I cant help but think of the feeling of when I throw my father the keys to his own Ferrari Dino 246 GT (his childhood favorite). I have him to blame for my addiction to all things Ferrari. Before I am 40, my father and I will both be driving our own Ferrari's.

I am a lurker for quite some time, decided to post in here. I have been addicted to Ferrari's ever since I first rode in my grandfather's Testarossa. It was sheer joy for me every time I got a ride in that car. Then when he passed away in 2001, my grandmother was afraid of anyone getting hurt driving the car so she sold it. Disappointed, yes, but I know it was the best thing to do because had I been able to get behind the wheel when I was a new driver I may not be posting this today. This has made me want to own a Ferrari even more now. My dad tells me I'm crazy because the $25,000 water pump failure is still in his mind(took out the timing belts and tensioners when it failed). I am currently a 20 year old college student who lives in an economically depressed area of the country which can't afford to go lower than it already is (near Youngstown, OH).

I already have been bitten by the sports car bug as I had the opportunity to purchase a 1979 MGB and have been doing a rolling restoration on that. I hope to someday own my own company, either in the insurance sales and financial planning industry or a few car dealerships, but know that I must get that expensive piece of paper first and then gain experience under someone else. I hope to be able to meet some people on this site at some point in the future and look at all the great cars you own. Most likely I'll have to travel in order to do that though.

    Hi everyone!

Some of you may already know me. My name is Tony Lauro. I used to work at Shelton Ferrari and I have been working for a collector since 2001. I've been lucky enough to be around and work with Ferrari's since 1997.

Long, long time Ferrari F1 fan. Car design/art guy who somehow got out of the art scene after having two kids and ZERO free time to paint/draw. Now that I think of it, I haven't had time to do much of anything! ;) Since my kids have gotten a little older I have recently began getting back into art and will have some work at Cavallino.

Cool forum you have here. Can't believe I didn't find it sooner.

As everyone else here, I've been a Ferrari enthusiast since a child. I enjoyed some Porsche 911's, but have been set on finding the right first Ferrari experience.

About 2 years ago, I was in the market and found a 1976 308 GTB Fiberglass car. The owner had an extensive collection and encouraged me to get a Testarossa for the performance and driving experience. After not finding the right Testarossa, I ran across my brother's friend who was trying to sell his 355 Spyder. It was a 1998 Nart Blue F1 with 17,000 miles, with recent major service, so I thought I had found the right 1998 355 Spyder, but during the PPI process, the seller decided he loved the car too much to sell it (after trying to sell it for 2years).... oh well, back to the drawing board.

So then I went back to the 1976 308 GTB Fiberglass car, and it is now in my garage! I've been holding off on posting, because I wanted to get some good pictures to show. Currently the car is in excellent restored stock condition, but I will be putting the adjustable coil-over suspension from Nicks Forza Ferrai, along with 17" GTO wheels. I'll get pictures of the car with the stock 14" wheels, then the pictures with the new suspension and wheels.

The 355, Testarossas, and the 308s are all different in performance, but the driving experience is definitely unique and exciting.

Great forum, and great information on these amazing cars! Looking forward to contributing more on the 308 section of this site.

    -John

    Hello,

My name is Pascal, I'm 38 years old and live in Belgium. I've been a Ferrari fan for as long as I can remember, with a special love for the F-40. I don't own a Ferrari, but I've got several model cars. Currently I'm doing a rebuild of 2 F-40's in 1/8 scale (Pocher). The first one is going to be a replica of the standard F-40, with most of the parts made from scratch. The second one is a conversion of a standard Pocher F-40 to the F-40 Barchetta Beurlys. If any one has pictures of this one-of-a-kind Barchetta, any help is welcome :)

    Yours sincerely

    John,
I don't think I have ever read a thread that hit it more on the head than yours. I have dreamed of owning a Ferrari since I was a kid and I am 48 years young. When I was 40 years old I had an injury that left me down for a considerable amount of time. At that time I decided it was time to make some dramatic changes in my life with one of the reasons being that I wanted to own a Ferrari. I knew that I would never be able to afford one if I kept working at the same company. So I decided that 16 years in management was enough for me and I threw in the towel on an excellent job to go into business on my own. My wife thought I was insane as we had two children in private schools (tuition zingers) and a brand new home. Needless to say plenty of debt. While I am not the sharpest tool in the shed (college dropout) I was smart enough to hire the best people and more importantly to reward them as I would want to be in the way of pay and benefits. After 8 years of hard work and tremendous sacrifice my business has grown and prospered to the point that this was the year to purchase the F-car. I had my doubts because of a lot of the exact same reasons you mentioned. But as you well put it there are a million reasons to not own such an expensive and exclusive car but in the end sometimes you just have to go after your dream. I have to say that it is a genuine thrill to own one of these cars and because of another mans vision and dream we are able to experience a vehicle
that gives you pure joy just looking at it. I just want to say to the young people that read & post that if you really want something bad enough you can get it with hard work and perseverance. I have had the car for 3 weeks and only been able to drive it twice because of snow and rain. I just put it away for probably 4 months until winter ends. It is killing me. Best of everything to all and I hope your dreams become reality!!
    Jay
