Just did a reverse listing of numbers of postings on FChat and to my surprise I found dozens of users who signed up even last year with zero posts.

How come? Lurking or just signed on and then lost interest?

Personally I'd like to hear these currently silent voices.

The lurkers are easy to find, because they registered long ago, but visited an hour ago and still have no posts. :) Some people just like to watch.

Hi.. I am one of the "lurkers" I suppose. I just enjoy reading and learning about Ferraris. I've learned so much from this site alone, its great.
I don't currently have a Ferrari nor in a position to get one soon, but I'll own one eventually ;) Until then, I'll continue to read and enjoy this great site!

i registered about 6 or 7 months ago, and ill normally just read a lot of the posts without posting myself. i normally add input if feel strongly about something, or if i can add to the body of knowledge. otherwise, i just enjoy reading what everyone else posts.

They are deaf mutes that have a Testarossa in the basement of the Spanish embassy!

Don't call 'em, they can't hear the phone!!

I think there may be a high quantity of female owners, who are reluctant to mix it up! Can't say I blame them.

Initially it's like walking in to a stranger's party (or fight, depending on the topic) where everyone knows each other. Takes a while to figure who's who and orient to the social balances.

This is an open amnesty to all lurkers!

I am really ashamed because Fchat is my sign in page on my browser and yet I don't post more. I am in the same boat as some of the others. I don't own a Ferrari yet but I am hoping to be able to purchase a 355 in the next 3 years. As a matter of fact, I will be going to FOA in two weeks to take a look at a couple of cars while I am in town on business. I usually post in the off-topic sections because like the others, I don't want to appear ignorant when it comes to specs on these cars, but I am willing to learn more if you guys treat me like Carban and Jordan. :)

Mitch, I have been reading for a few months (recently subscribed) . I kinda look at the forum as another part of due diligence in narrowing the car search down to a type, then model, then year ...etc. Not being an owner I don't want to toss out unverifiable opinions - on something I have no direct knowledge of. Conversely, I find it invaluable to hear owners and ex-owners offer insights into general Q&A ...and offer help to specific "how do you do this " requests. My opinion about Lambo's products is changing as a direct result of the dialogs (not flamethrowers) between owners. I read the off-topic entries also, but am primarily interested in the tech, showroom, racing forums. I find some very intelligent and thought provoking discussions occur quite regularly. I hope my silence (lurking per se) does not offend anyone.

Even if I would post anything i wouldn't get any response from you.
Maybe posting some pics in the bikini thread would be a good way for us noobs to gain status :)

Finland would be a GOOD source for beautiful folks, I would think.

I met a group from Helsinki in a Texas Honky Tonk once, and I could have listened to those girls talk forever, without any idea of what was said, of course!

    Welcome!

I feel obligated to speak up - I'm a relatively new lurker. I don't own a ferrari, but I drive a 1980 fiat x1/9 red with bbs wheels and ansa exhaust. It looks like a baby ferrari, even though it is a Bertone design. Anyway, I used to be a big fan of Porsches, but I have seen the light...Italian cars are the greatest! This fiat impressed me so much, I can't imagine what the real thing would be like - ferrari or lamborghini. BTW, I'm probably one of the youngest members of this board, so I won't be able to get a ferrari soon, but as soon as I have the chance I will take it. Nevertheless, in the meantime you'll see me sportin' italian loafers and sunglasses in anticipation/preparation for that day.

I'll probably continue mainly lurking. I like to read about people's experiences and I love the pictures of meets. From having driven the bertone to high school, I guess I can offer some insight/stories about my generation's attitude towards these cars amidst the influences of the wrx/civic/evo.

    Good Day!

p.s. I still like porsche 911s, but I have yet to try one

    I guess i'm kinda a lurker

I just like reading all you guys stories with your F-cars. I live like 1-2 minutes from Ferarri of Seattle and i'm a big big fan. I probably won't own a Ferrari for a good 10 years though :) I'd love to check out the local guy's cars sometime.

I spend a lot of time at my home away from home at bimmerforums since i own an M3.

X1/9s definately count. Google the 308 Bertone Rainbo and check that out.

Not much of a jump into a 308GT4 from where you are!

I spend most of my time working :). However, when on fchat, if I'm looking for info and I can't get it, then I'll post. Unless you want me to start an arguement about why women make better drivers or any number of other hot topics, you'd probably be happier when I'm quiet.

    Cheers,

cool thanks. here is a pic (low quality, hope it works!) - you get the gist... I know that people on fchat are sensitive to imposters but I can't imagine anybody lying about x1/9s

You made an excellent post about being in Europe at the start of the war.

    I remember.
