Reminds me of a funny story. My friends and I were in Jamaica many years ago talking to a Rasta about the benefits of ganja. He went on to say how it brings you closer to God, makes you smarter etc. Suddenly my friend (just as stoned as the Rasta) yells out "ok, if you're so smart, WHAT'S EIGHT TIMES FIVE!!" Poor Rasta-man was stumped! I laughed for days. (I still don't know if that was that funny or just struck me funny at the time (for whatever reason, LOL)

I am definitely a lurker, although I don't own a ferrari. My friends dad has had a few 360's and is currently awaiting the Stradale. I've always loved Ferrari's, hopefully some day I can own one :) I'm 21 and currently drive an 03' Honda S2000. It is a fun car, and I've seen some other S2000 owners here as well.

I can only speak for myself..I dont know if I am a "lurker "or just a curious onlooker. I have been in the market for a nice 308gts but once I began to look I either found high mileage junk or very nice but very expensive 308/328. With this in mind I decided to save for another year and buy a low mileage 348 since this will be on average of about $ 10,000 more.
I would like to contine "lurking" if I may. I have learned so much in the past 2 months as a member, thanks everyone

Not to hijack my own thread, but be careful with the 348 path. Only the newer ones (e.g. all spiders) are worth their salt. 328 is basically without problems.

    Welcome! :)

I would love to see more pics of where you live. Other than bad roads, do you enjoy island life? I hear it's a love or hate thing.

It's my plan to retire to a nice island and smoke cigars and sit on the boat all day. :)

Hi - Thanks for the welcome. The shot in my profile was taken from a helicopter - it's Cane Garden Bay, which is where I live. Island life has it's ups and downs but I'd have to say there are definitely more ups! The whole work permit/Trade license issue is a real drag but fortunately I only have to re-new it once a year (I was originally from Florida so not a "Belonger"). My wife and I are really into boating so our weekends are usually spent racing around to the different Islands/bars! Other than boating there isn't a whole lot else to do - no theater, no bowling alley, no long road trips but we don't get that cold white stuff that falls from the sky and it's always 80 to 90 degrees year round - far be it for me to complain!

If you or anyone has any questions about living here or need anything else from a "local" please let me know. Thanks again to Mr. Lay for this great site.

I don't smoke but my friends that do say they get some pretty good Cuban cigars down here.

Geeze - I looked at my first post and saw all sorts of typos, guess I should learn to proof-read before sending! Honest, I did make it out of first grade.

Not a lurker but a true fan of high performance cars. I also frequent other forums and contribute when there's something to be added. I've owned many high performance cars, but never a Ferrari. I'm not sure I ever will. As beautiful as they are, they are over rated. When Ferrari does to the road car world what it has done to the F1 world then I will buy a new one. Ferrari is capable of building the best performance car in the world as witnessed by the Enzo. They need to apply the same dedication and passion to their less expensive models. There is no reason why their cars cannot be the best performing car in its respective class.
I'm a huge F1 fan and have been since 1973. The fact that Ferrari is once again at the top is fantastic. One of my best friends presides over McLaren and its now my turn to gloat. Throughout the 90's his team was one of the dominating teams and he gave me s..t all the time. Now it's Ferrari's turn. I have driven numerous Ferraris, but the one experience I will never forget is being a passenger in my friend's McLaren F1. I wish I had been wearing diapers that day. - Bob

I can't find an online forum that appreciates pretty much anything automotive. F-Chat is the closest thing I've found so far, plus like I said I want a Ferrari. I have my brand loyalties just like everyone else, but what I really like is cars. :)

    I'm a lurker...

I don't have much free time to post, but I do like dropping by to see if anyting interesting is being posted. I concentrate on events and to see if there are any new happenings in the technology and performance areas.

I'm not a Ferrari owner at the moment, but I do see some real possibilities in the future. I grew up around Riverside Raceway, in the days when Ferrari guys were racing toe to toe with the Porsches, Corvettes and Mercedes folks (every single weekend). No one was afraid to chip their paint, or to put some real track miles on or get their cars dirty. They all loved driving and racing. The sound of a carburated V-12 Ferrari engine is music to my ears... nothing can compare to it.

I'll try to be more of a contributor. I have a passion for all performance cars (and people with similar interests). I cannot stand car bigots. That's JMO...

    That's my $.02...

Funny, but I have found Ferrari owners to be the least snobby and least "homer" about their cars than any other brand. (Remember, I grew up during the 60s and had to listen to all the Ford v Chevy crap.) In fact, most F-car owners that I know own, or have owned, a wide variety of cars. The worst I have found, as a generalization, are the Porsche folks. I guess owning a Ferrari means that you never have to brag or overcompensate.

Yes, the cars are ridiculously expensive. And, yes, Ferraris typically are not state of the art. And yes, if Honda ever builds a mid-engined V10, it will munch every F-car within sight.

But, when I get behind the wheel of the Shark, life is good. It is very, very good.

Coincidentally, I've found Ferrari owners to be the most defensive of their cars. At least on this board. But alas, I love each of you anyway :)

Yeah hi...First Post! I am a huge car (European) enthusiast. I am in college and love reading this forum in my spare time. I do feel kind of guilty about "lurking" but I usually don't feel qualifed to say much seeing how I do not own a Ferrari yet...

Of COURSE I'm a lurker. Life at my house pretty much revolves around the site so it's good to know what's going on. Just don't have much to contribute unless it involves clearing my good name...and so far Rob's been good about NOT picking on me too much (or at least hiding it).

I'll come out of the closet!!!!

Hi, my name is Jay, and I'm a Lurker. I'm from chicago and oiften times you can see me at Continental in Hinsdale drooling and slobbering all over the windows. If youv'e driven by late at night and seen me...thanks for not calling the cops. I am mentally sane...I promise!!!

Seriously though, this is a great site. I actually just moved away from chicago and I am in Dallas now.

Just never posted here. Love reading the stories you guys share and the pics you post. I won't lie...I'm jealous. Yet...I smile everytime I open up a new post and see a new pic. I've been a Ferrari FREAK since I was younger...25 now. As a kid my Dad, who passed away when I was 9, has a 308 GTB...red of course. Been hooked ever since.

Been lucky enough to drive or ride in a few differet Ferraris. 308...328....355...Testerossa....512 TR. Sat in a 288 GTO, and a 550. Love em all!!!!!!!

So, there you go. I posted. You happy now!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll probably continue to just Lurk though. I feel weird if I posted a lot. I don't own one. Probably never will! I can dream though.

    Jay

P.S....My cousin and I pulled up to a red 360 in Dallas (greenville area), corner of Abrams and Garland. My cousin started yelling out the window and being an ass!!!!! I apolize to you and your wife. She, especially, looked a little embarrased. Didn't get a great look at your wife, but....Beautiful CAR!! = )

I have posted a few times but visit the site at least once every two days on average so put me in the lurker category big time.

I have had a 360 spider on order for years which arrives in July (already speced now) so hopefully I will post more then.

I like reading about the 360 replacement because I intend to trade the 360 spider on one so this board is great for all the discussion / pictures on that topic.

Would like to own a 246 GT as well one day. Then I can leave the hood permanently down on the spider :)

And as Rob said... "I like to watch"

Rob, is that Mrs. F chat aka Jennie?

I have seen that pic before about you going out to hooters or something, and I thought that was some model girl you guys were hanging out with.

If that is Jennie, then HOT DAMN :D :D :D :D

If it is NOT her, we would appreciate a picture ;)

That's good ole Kansas farm girl Jennie, what she is doing with me no one knows. That's the first thing my friends say when they meet her. She's making good bank now that she's out of grad school and she's is extremely tolerant of my lifestyle. I'll keep her, not sure the other way around though. :)

Just found this site a couple weeks ago, after taking the plunge to ask my local dealer to find me a nice 360 Modena F1 coupe. (Logic: Anyone who's been a car nut for as many years as I have should own a Ferrari at least once!) Tonight I signed up for the 5+2 Rossa subscription, as I feel I've already gotten far more than $175 worth of valuable information from this site. And I have no doubt that investment will continue to pay big dividends before & after I become an owner.

Like some other posters in this thread, I'm just feeling my way around, and haven't yet felt I had anything interesting or valuable to contribute. But I won't hesitate to chime in when I do, and in the meantime I truly appreciate those who already share so freely.

I don't really post much. I just sold my Porsche 996, but am thinking very hard about spending the kind of money it would take to buy the car I really want. I'm not quite as loaded as some, but I am crazzy as anyone. ;)
