Having just completed a 2 year nut and bolt restoration to get 2HLA ready for the next 50 years, I thought I would share some pictures.. Taking her back to factory specification of Azzuro Blue and Interior VM 3015 was as important as when the original registration plate was reassigned. Details like Zinc plating the rear inlet manifold nut as well as the shock absorber nut; correct stickers on the hoses, rounded Jubilee clips etc. may seem excessive but filling 3,000 hours she is as good now as she will ever be. Now to be driven. Stunning. Looks like you performed an excellent restoration worthy of the car's timeless elegance and pedigree. Congratulations and happy motoring!
This Lusso is an absolute dream. I cannot recall seeing amore beautiful color for the Lusso. This combination is just so beautiful I cannot stop looking at it. Congratulations! E
I have no idea who started this sticker madness, but the orignal hoses did not have any stickers The car looks fantastic though!
Congratulations and thanks for sharing not only here on F-Chat, but also at the Goodwood Revival recently! Good to see you're not afraid of using and enjoying it.
I disagree with the amused comments on the hose stickers. I believe there were Pirelli labels on the hoses, except they were not applied stickers, but labels vulcanized into the rubber. For homework, suggest a copy of Parker Hall's reproduction detailing catalog for Ferrari and other Italian marques, in which he offers a very good summary research of the Pirelli hose labels, including found examples of original hoses. If there is a fault, it is that today, too many labels are being applied, as the original hose stock probably only had a label at some periodic spacing, and likely only showed up on the car occasionally. A perfect restoration would use vulcanized labels - probably very impractical/costly to make for such limited applications, so the stickers offer a facsimile.
it has all been said. let me say the broadside shot in front of the ragged building is simply poetic!!! what an amazing image you captured!!!!
Would like to comment, but at the same time I feel that discussing Pirelli stickers does not really belong to this thread. The car looks really great!
Your car really looks stunning - congratulations!!! But the engine breather hoses look wrong to me. Shouldn't they be of a brown colour with a ribbed texture.
About the oil overflow hoses I believe they started out as relatively transparent hose, yes ribbed, but the oil over time stains them brown.
