I've mentioned this car in the past and was thinking about it again recently.Approx 12 years or so ago,a friend of mine called me and said that there was some kind of" Eyetalian" car sitting in an industrial unit in Whittier,Ca.My friend knew of my interest in European sporty cars and would I like to tag along to see what it was.I said "Yep"or similar.Anyway the story behind the car that I got was this. The Car and numerous other engine powered toys were kept in an industrial building off of Greenleaf Blvd,in Whittier. They were all owned by a gent who was obviously successful financially but had reportedly drank his way into an early grave. The deceased gentleman's widow had no idea exactly what was in said unit and could my friend help her to I.D. what was in there and help her dispose of it and make some cash.Well he opens the door and inside is this rather large collection of goodies. There was a pickle fork type racing boat with a new Arias Hemi motor waiting to be installed,Racing Go-carts,I think either a sprint car or maybe a dragster with a covered trailer (including workspace and tools)etc. etc. etc.and over in the corner under a cover is the reported "Eyetalian car"I pulled the cover off and lo and behold its an immaculate 250 lusso that had obviously had lots of money spent on it recently and on the bench sat the Beautifully rebuilt Engine and trans(atleast they appeared rebuilt)I told them "Nope, its just an ol Fiat,But i'd be willing to take her of yer hands for $500.00.Yeah right!.I said "WOW!" a Ferrari! This was before I became familiar with Ferrari products and before I turned wrenches on them, but I knew enough to know that any vintage Ferrari with a V-12 was worth some serious moola. My friend informed the widow, the car disappeared on a trailer and I never found out where or with whom this car wound up .I have since lost contact with my friend and unfortunately at the time I didnt really care about where it went because I was into "Lotus" products at the time.My tastes in cars has expanded a bit since then.Of course I didnt bother to write down the V.I.N..If I remember correctly the car was painted British Racing green or a similar dark avocado color.Does this car sound familiar to anyone.I would sure like to know what happened to it,just because. Thanks, Tim
