Back in the late seventies, I spent quite a bit of time with the FCA, doing safety inspections to certify cars for track participation.
We had a yearly event in Bowmansville, Ontario at the Mosport Park circuit.
One fellow showed up regularly with a red Lusso on a trailer. It was fitted with alloy wheels and some sort of racing tires. I think it also had a sparse interior.
Seems like he spent more time on the track than anyone else, driving the car at or near its limits.
As I recall, he towed it with a Volvo station wagon.
Anyone remember the guy or the car?

Are you sure that was a Lusso and not a 330 LMB, or even 250 GTO LMB 4713, Bob?

Check out this event I put together at Mountain Air a few years ago. I thought this was a cool Lusso, big tach and I think racing belts and clocks. Anyway, I was thrilled no one got killed that day by running off the runway, god knows they tried.

And at the first FCA meet I attended I did meet a guy who drove the wheels off a Lusso at Indy in 2005. I think it was for sale for around 125k, but I thought nahhhh been driven hard. I’ve done some stupid things along the way.

Hi, Steven - no, it was definitely a Lusso.
And, definitely NOT 4713 - I know that for a fact because I spent a lot of time working on 4713 when owned by a gentleman in upstate NY. It was actually his second GTO - 5575 was his first.
Also, interesting to note that some folks referred to 4713 as a GTO/LMB!
