i'm curious if any of you are familiar with a guy named 'nigo'; a man who owns 2 clothing companies based out of japan [a bathing ape and baby milo]. he is also part owner of another clothing company with rapper pharrell williams [who now owns a black enzo]. to summarize, he is the wealthiest fashion designer in japan [worth 50M], and i thought i'd post his current list of cars for you who don't know, or are not familiar with him. whether you care or not about what he does, his current "line-up" for the year is pretty amazing to say the least. sorry i don't have any photos, but all of his cars are to be featured in the newest dub magazine from what i've heard.

last time i heard, he was worth 50M. it must be more now because he lives in a 30M house, and has multiple luxury condo's/apt's around japan all worth over 5M.

i believe he got the bulk of his money from designing a pepsi can in 2001. i found a photo of his phantom, but for some reason the html option is off in my profile, and i cannot turn it on... i posted the link below if any of you want to see it.

that... is fugly. i don't know how else to say it.

As for the whole 10% thing... when you have that much money to begin with, why not? I don't see any reason that a person worth 50 MILLION should feel financial pressures if he has 4.5 mil in cars. The largest chunk of that 4.5 is a one time deal, and even being conservative, he's making probably a 10% return on the 50 million anyway.

i suppose when you have money like that, you don't have to worry about spending "too" much. i wish i had photos of his house to show you... i'm really into architecture, and anyone else who is into architecture, would definitely appreciate it. i found a photo of his garage, but it only has one car in it, as well as him, and a bunch of pairs of shoes he designed. supposedly his garage has an elevator in it, which is pretty cool.

This guy was in DUB a couple of years ago.. he cycles his cars like every 6 mo to a year. Dont remember what issue it was, but they had pics of his house.. one of the larger ones in Japan, but not huge by our standards. Real estate in Japan is so expensive, most people have to get multigenerational mortgages to pay off the house.. so yeah this dude is loaded.

yea, he has been featured in dub before, but i guess they're featuring him again because as you said, he switches up his cars every 6 months. that is his main home too. its been featured in many architectual magazines in japan, and its an amazing home. you should also see some of his collections as well...his furniture, andy warhol and murakami art, beatles memorbilia [spl?], etc [if you're into any of that]. its pretty incredible.

Impressive, yes, and more than I can afford...but at the same time, I am going to criticize his taste, if I had that much money, I would have some more unique cars, he pretty much bought cars that take no imagination....I'd like to see stuff like a Zonda in there, an F40 LM, 430 spider, Maybach....

^ the jag xj220 takes some imagination.

I don't know, it just seemed to me to remind me of a rapper's (or NBA player's) collection, they just buy what's "popular", whereas I'd want to see an enthusiast's collection. Hopefully next time he switches he'll get a Veyron.

To answer a few of the above postulations:

    A. His demographic is the NBA, Rapstar type.

    B. Some of his Bathing Ape T-shirts (BAPE) go for over $1,000 a peice b/c he only sells a limited run. (Same with the shoes)

    C. His car collection reflects his mix of demographic/enthusiast taste. IMO.

Would be cool to see some pics of the house if anyone has any.

it wasn't just the shoes...he designed a pepsi can in 2001, which is how he got his name and brand out worldwide. [the link is below for photos of the can he designed]. he also created 2 major clothing companies that were the 1st of its kind in japan [concept wise], and also is part owner of one with rapper pharrell [who now currenly owns a black enzo]. he later opened a hair salon, cafe, and is now trying for a hotel. the shoes are just part of what he has created [and they're under the nike brand]. as for the rappers wearing them, that wasn't the main target in regards to marketing. however, a t-shirt of his cost 95$+. everything he releases is limited edition, and with prices so high for all of his products, its more "desirable", and people line up at his stores and everything sells out within hours. ...think of it as "urban" clothing, with an italian designer like price tag. that my friend, is how he has made his money.

Regardless of boring or not those are todays Super Cars and he owns them. In reference to the 10% who cares when you have $50 M, and who came up with that BS rule anyway. Remember you can always live in a car, but you can't drive a house.

The company with Pharell is Billionaire Boys Club. The article in Dub was very cool, he has a pretty extensive Louis Vuitton collection as well.

i have done work for a bathing ape in the past [color correction for print, etc], and back then [in 98], he was a much different person than he is now [nigo, the owner]. his company may be in the lime-light, but in retrospect, its dead in japan [its origin], because he sold out, and like i said, is a different person now. the concept behind bathing ape is that, the name 'a bathing ape,' comes from the Japanese expression: ‘to bathe in lukewarm water' [nuruma-yu-ni-tsukaru], and it's a comment on kids in tokyo today. they're very shallow; they take things for granted, and they're not street savvy --it's sort of ironic for them to be wearing the clothing. the concept was that he was trying to show how they [kids in tokyo] are incapable of being independent-minded. they have no plans or goals, because they're just too comfortable; like bathing in lukewarm water. all his company is now is hype [at least in the united states]. its targeted towards rappers [because they're the only ones who can afford authentic garments], and the demigraphics of what he stands for is clear. wealth, materialism, and ironic meaning. its nothing more than a uselss trend.

The really cool thing about the Veyron (besides the rear air brake), is that it embarasses Formula 1 cars...showing the engine restriction rules to be idiotic.

I mean, here's a car that you can buy at a *dealership* that outruns the best of Formula 1.

So much for flat out racing...
