Luxury Motors in Downers Grove?

Joe has always been a fair and honest guy to my knowledge. I am surprised though, that "They haven't changed any of the staff and it's not likely that they will."

I'm sure LM's employees knew what was going on and followed Abbas' commands. Carla, I commend you for getting out when you worked for him, and became aware of his dishonesty!!

 

Another dumb comment from Duh Rolls. For your personal edification, Duh, I'll state this:

I don't like Bentleys;
I don't like Bentley Gold Coast because I don't shop anywhere in Chicago where there are palm trees or stuffed leopards; and
I have no affiliation with Abbas. In fact, I don't consider him my friend, but I have no reason to call him a criminal.

And Duh, please read the news when you can, or talk to someone in the know. Or at least, go to the Daley Center in your spare time and do some reading so that you can catch up on what is happening with/to Abbas. Thank you.

 

Ah, what a meaningless retort. I suggest that YOU go to the Daley Center and do some reading. You might find out how many suits have been filed against LM and Abbas.

If you don't know him, or the tactics used to sell vehicles through LM and BGC, it's difficult for me to understand why you're so vehement in your denial of his impropriety.

Anyhow, I didn't mean this to become a war of words, and I have no problem with your beliefs. At this point, I'm dropping any further posting on this subject, as it looks like it's getting a little too personal and that's not what it was meant to be.

An even more troubling sign of the tough times is Luxury Motors. Through the various companies that make up Joseph Abbas’ holdings, he owns 14 or more properties along the 300 block of Ogden Avenue that total over 205,000 square feet of real estate including Luxury Motors, a Bentley dealership, Downers Grove Saab, and properties that currently are home to Downers Grove Yamaha, LaMantia Builders, and others.

Mr. Abbas is $70,637.86 in arrears on his 2008 taxes. and his web of companies have several that, starting in December of 2007, have been involuntarily dissolved, revoked, or not in good standing. Only one was found to be both active and holding property locally. 3311 Charles, Inc. is listed at 330 Ogden, the empty corner of Fairview and Ogden, and which is also in tax arrears.

Luxury Motors was the high flying car dealer that Downers Grove had a sales tax rebate agreement with that, in it’s glory days, generated several hundreds of thousands of dollars for the village, and rebated one year over $200,000 back to the car empire. When times got tough car sales, especially luxury car sales, collapsed. Village Manager Dave Fieldman canceled the sales tax rebate agreement several months ago and has not made rebate payments for some time now, since Luxury Motors fell below the threshold. Credit Fieldman for looking out for us; we could have been paying them our sales tax dollars while they were not paying us our property tax dollars.

These properties have more intrinsic value at tax auction than the luxury condos on Forest. They’re commercial properties along a high traffic artery that’s just been repaired, and the tax bills will probably be auctioned off pretty readily. It’s up to Joseph Abbas’ various surviving companies to repay the liens or walk away. In either case the largest sales tax generator in Downers Grove has been hammered by the economy, and DG tax revenues have been hammered right along with them. It remains to be seen if these tax bills will get sold. When they get auctioned off the money will go into the hopper and work its way back to Downers Grove months, like 4929 Forest late, perhaps a year later than scheduled, but better than never.

Charter One Bank had several outside companies overseeing the dealerships since last October in order to try to protect their loans for the inventory.

How is Abbas still operating and how does Bentley Motor Company allow it?

The how? That, was, is, and will be a mystery.

Bentley? No Mystery there. He sells cars and he never f****d them directly. Manufacturers are the world's biggest whores.

BTW: the tread title is probably not relevant as I'm not sure Mr. Abbas is involved with Luxury Motors any more. That is Luxury Motors, not Bentley Downers Grove and Bentley Gold Coast. Further, Luxury has abandoned it's Downers Grove location. Signs are down and the cars are gone.

 

Joe Abbas WILL still be employed at Bently Gold Coast and Lamborghini Gold Coast. They are keeping him on to "sell" cars. He is still a big part of those stores, but the OWNERSHIP will be transfered to Perillo when they close in the near future. Bently is requiring the suburban location for service. Lamborghini Gold Coast has no service at this time.

Just a rumor, but the deal with Mr. Perillo keeps Abbas as a part owner.

There is nothing incorrect or inappropriate regarding any of my prior statements. Others, perhaps even you, have played judge, jury, and executioner, and have branded Abbas a criminal. We live in America, not in Persia where Abbas is from, where that might legitimately happen. Wait until such time that a jury labels him a criminal to call him one, or else, you, too, may be on the receiving end of a lawsuit. In addition, read my prior posts very carefully, because you are obviously not an astute reader.

I spent close to seven years there, from '99 to '06, and mostly, those were good times.
Growing from 60 cars a month to over 600, all at the same location.
The things started to change after Bentley dealership, which was purchased for next to nothing, made the guy rich overnight, and made him feel invincible.
Total transformation from a humble, down to earth guy, to this cold blooded, lying and cheating creature that ran everyone decent out of the place!

I was there for about 6 months back in '06. Hated the environment. I'm very glad to be doing something else (which I very much enjoy).

There were some very good people there. Joe was a very interesting fellow. Certaintly a learning experience for me, good and bad.

 

It's easy to outsell your competition and get rich when you don't pay off the cars at the bank. Fifth Third Bank learned that a few years ago and now Charter One and American Chartered. $27 Million between the two banks is a lot of cars.

 

I ain't your friend and that place was sleazy during your tenure. If you remained for 7 years then all I can say is; Birds of a feather...
I'll speculate that your "good times" were slapping your knees each time another dubious car was offloaded or some usary loan was procured.

 

This is very discouraging....I found a great car on eBay early this morning at a great price and did an offer and they accepted it (looks/looked like a great deal). Now as I have investigated them on the web things look very scary. Has the purchase gone through with the new owner? Any new info come out (this site was very informative about this firm and links to articles and court info was very helpful).
