Hi, I'm heading to Monaco this Tuesday , 4 days at Hotel De Paris, and I need a place to rent a luxury car (Porsche or Merc SL), does anyone know or used a place before? And I will be driving to Narbonne/France (400 kms) to pick up my Beneteau Clipper 473 yacht from the factory :) But I have to drop the car off in Narbonne, any deals like this other than Avis?

Not really. Only the big ones do it.

You can try elite rent a car (www.elite.ch) but i'm not sure they'll let you leave the car anywhere, but maybe you can find a dropoff location close to where you go, as there are several narbonnes in France, maybe you should check it out as well...
Lastly, be cautious outside MC, a car like a Merc or so IS flashy in France, make sure your doors are locked all the time.

But enjoy the trip, if you've never been there, south of France is very nice.
Try the Louis XV in Hotel de Paris, it's good, or the Chevre d'Or.
For a more authentic experience, Le Domaine de St Antoine near Grasses.
All are michelin starred restaurants (2 or 3 for le Louis XV), so you can't go wrong.

    Ah yeah ?

Even italians are afraid to venture in some places in the south of france.

Of course you can see aplenty, but the guys usually know where/when to go.

There is a lot of "unrest" near Lyons, Nice etc.

Thanks guys! I will check out the site, and I have been to Monaco and Nice (for the festival) last year and I think Merc or Porsche arent flashy cars in places we will be visiting.
4 days rental will be good enough but the major thing is picking up the yacht at the Beneteau factory. They are providing us two French captains (hope they speak English :) and I will be keeping a video/photo journal and post them here, but the trip will take 14 days on water.
Ryalex; its my dad's hobby, yachting, but I'm liking it as well, working hard to get my captain's degree (license)...
I can keep this thread live until Tuesday so come on guys and girls, help and feedback time :)

That's cool... man, I wish my dad had a hobby like yachting and not just playing 'devil's advocate' all the time. The irony is that I'm the one becoming a lawyer!

Enjoy Monaco though! I can't make a recommendation, since I was only there for a day, but it's a fun place. It will be fun going and seeing once I'm more 'established' and am not trying to do Europe on $30 a day...

Well so far so great about Beneteau since its fully customizable inside the yacht.. btw, the days are up to 6 now, and I just checked Avis which they had an E-class available. I booked it just now, waiting for a confirmation..

Will anyone of you guys be in Monaco between 21st - 27th ? Drinks, gambling and driving around the circuit, how about it?

Isn't the logical thing to have the Yacht company work this out for you? Not sure what your Dad's dropping on that 47' baby but, I'd have the manufacturer doing head stands for me if I were him........get them to arrange it and let you know what's up?

The company, they were good while at the transcation and giving your options list, but they didnt even arrange the route to enter the Port of Monaco. Anyways, there are delivering the yacht on the 27th at the factory, so it doesnt matter if they arrange something around Narbonne, because its a small village. So its better to entertain in Monaco and drive to Narbonne (400 kms) and check out places on the way.

Lamar , thanks so much! And of course, we will have time to visit some beautiful places.. Surely we will be needing a map, but what a road trip is without getting lost silly a few times ;-) Maybe the Merc has a navigation system..

Gougoul i guess you are talking about the surrounding of Marseilles and Nice . Other than that , the south of France really isnt dangerous at all..

Merc Sl and P 996 are a dime a dozen..

Guys, we are all set, its gonna be Monaco Metropole for 4 days, with a helicopter pickup at the Nice Airport to the hotel, and 6 days with Merc E, then off to Narbonne and 14 days on the water. Hotel De Paris apologized for not having the dates available so we had to change to the Metropole.

Any Monaco residents on this forum ?
