Hi, was intending to bring my 2003 M3 smg from NY to sydney or either Shanghai. I am checking how much i have to pay for taxes. And how much it would cost to change the dash, as Austrialia is left hand drive. Anyone done this before, or i would just ship it to Shanghai, where i guess.. taxes would be a problem. Thanks
hey dude, Australia is Right hand Drive to start off, and are you bringing the car in for travel convinence reasons or? i don't think you can have them if you have a travel visa (unless if you work for the amberssy), if you migrating, you can bring it as a personal import, and its 25% tax, but then you take it out of the country, they refund you the tax. i think. Shanghai can be quite tricky, if you have a company in Shanghai, has to be international company as well, then depends on your anual turn over, Shanghai government can grant you a international company (registed in shanghai) car import, aka the black plates. then you can use that to import your car to Shanghai, and its COMPETELY Tax FREE! besides like custom fees and etc. I can refer you a custom agent that does a pronto job. other wise sell it and buy one here
well, oz is RHD, but we know what you meant... but really, transporting, paying luxury taxes and customs bribes, and converting it seems like an awful lot of hassle for what is quite a common car here already. can't see the point of it to be honest.
sorry about the right and left hand drive things guys. Shanghai would be a better choice then. Yes, we are an international company. We are a WUFI status company. Could you let me know the person I can liase with. Thanks for your help.
Yeah, i guess.. i know what you mean. I guess.. shanghai would be a better choice. So, i guess. . . an M5 would be a good choice there. Any idea, how much it is retailing in Aussie? Nonetheless, thanks for the advice.
I assume you are talking about the E39 M5, and not the E60.... http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?Make=BMW&Model=M5&PriceFrom=-1&PriceTo=-1&SearchMethod=quicksearch&TabID=3328&Alias=carpointau that should give you some idea.
actually, i was wondering about the latest model.. and when is it being launched. Has anyone got delivery of their new M5.
The new M5 was launched early last month. I have tested it on a race track and the V10 engine is sublime as is the 7 speed SMG. There is quite a long wait list for it in Australia. A$236K plus on road costs. The new M6 is about to be launched.
Have you already got the E60 at dealerships over there? I read they would be released in July but was told by our dealer that it would not arrive until September (which is when I thought the M6 was coming).
