    I have not found a definite answer. is the alarm on a 1996 M5.2 embedded in the Motronic ECU?
    In other words can I just replace the ECU with another one without having to reprogram the alarm etc?

    it is concerning the 168600 ECU

    The alarm ECU must have matching key fobs or if you have the PIN code for the ECU you can program the fobs


    Can you just swap alarm ECU's and use your orig key as is? No
