http://blogs.motortrend.com/6203418/car-news/bmw-m5-pushed-past-800-hp-by-california-tuner/index.html "California-based tuner Currency Motors pulled out all the stops when putting its own take on the BMW M5. The shop added a pair of rear-mounted turbos, hand built intercooler system, and fully custom exhaust to turn the M5 into an 810 horsepower machine that Currency says can reach 240 mph. Despite the extra 310 horses, Currency didn't have to touch the seven-speed SMG. In addition to the substantial powertrain revamp, Currency threw out the car's leather upholstery in favor of a black Florida crocodile skin and gray suede motif that will definitely get people talking. Currency Motors M5 rear view All this will cost a whopping $350,000 and Currency will only build 10 of these. That's a lot of green, but its a lot of power and exclusivity. Besides, nobody ever said that twin turbos and croc-skin seats are cheap."
yeah seriously. so to turbo the car, and it seems they dont do any internal work, or transmission work.... it costs about $250,000 ? the car isn't even $100k fully loaded! oh, i guess they add bling bling seats :ugh:
Who was the Fchat guy that did the TwinTurbo Lambo? Didn't he drop in all new, custom made everything?
Thats G-force, he did extensive work on it, half shafts, all internals etc. Lots of R&d and he i think he is going to do it to a vert gallardo
Turbos under the rear bumper doesn't sound that efficient. They say there's no lag, but with that much plumbing, I really doubt it.
I've never heard of rear mounted turbos on a front engined car before. Has this ever been done? I can see how maybe there would be advantages with regard to temperature control, but I would think that keeping the turbos exposed back there could be potentially dangerous. As they get hot, they would become more prone to damage from stones and other road debris.
I agree. Its not worth the money. People are going to think that no matter how much the car costed, its just another BMW. On the other hand, if people sees a Ferrari, no matter how much it costs, they know its a Ferrari and its expensive.
With the volume of gas between the rear mounted turbos and front mounted engine, I would guess that it has some sort of rally car style anti lag system?
I'm all for high performance. I love hot rodding just about anything, and an M5 with turbos would be fantastic. But.... $250,000 for a turbo set-up, and some (poorly done) interior mods, lets get real. Have peoples brains just stopped working or what? Darrell.
theyd have to do internal work to have the claimed 800hp, with the compression at 12:1 stock, id guess they would lower the compression and do all other supporting mods (fuel, etc)
it has a $100k aligator interior what a joke.....look at the turbo system, no way that took anywhere near $100k+ to make.......
