    This computer is 2 OS's old... so I'd have to install the CD of Snow Leopard then Lion.

    When I put in a Snow Leopard CD it said my computer was unable to install. What would I need to upgrade hardware wise first? The memory? Or would it be more trouble than it's worth?

    Your computer meets the requirements for Snow Leopard but not for Lion. You need at least 2gb of memory for Lion. Also you need at least 5gb of storage free to install Snow Leopard.

    What kind of error is it giving you when you try installing it?

    I was trying to upgrade from Tiger to Lion on my old Macbook and ended up just paying someone $40 on Craigslist so I didn't have to buy the disks.

    If it's not too big of a headache it's definitely worth upgrading.

    I believe that's your problem - I'd love to find out, but got left behind at the Core Duo (not 2) stage :(

    From their site;

    I believe an iMac of your vintage can be easily upgraded to 2GB (preferably 4) for ~$50 and you'll be home free.

    Please report back.....

    Cheers,
    Ian
