For some reason my macbooks fan is staying on. It normally only comes on when I'm playing a video. But starting yesterday, it hasn't turned off, unless I close the macbook.

Download iStat nano, pro or whatever version you want. It can either be a widget on your dashboard or an appllication that will stay on your taskbar. Personally, I like the application better. Once you've got that, tell us what your fan speed is.

Your Macbook fan runs all the time when the lid is open, its just that 99 percent of the time, when just web browsing, its too slow for you to hear it. If your RPM is above average (I'd say around 2000 is avg) you could be having a kernel panic.

If I were you I'd post on the apple support forums. I can give you much more as I'm on my Blackberry in a Vietnamese hotel.

    Good luck!

THANK YOU!!! I downloaded that istat, and apparently a printer that I had added to my computer a few days ago, in order to use at someone elses house was continuing to try and print. It was using up like 98% of the processes.
